ParticipantFinally, I get to be on Team 13!
If I remember correctly from The Rules, if you draw #13 it should always be worn upside down. Sadly, I can’t figure out how to make this silly PC turn the number on its head.
Looking forward to meeting y’all.

Ian – may I recommend a trailer, which you can get used for a reasonable price, and a couple of blankets. That way you can get a ride in AND give your wife a break.
According to Wikipedia, 22 is the atomic number for titanium, which is about as bike-related as it seems to get. I’ve never even ridden a titanium bike, though.
Sorry I missed the fun last night. Back at work after two weeks off and I’m still catching up. I was going to mention the same thing about titanium. One thing the article mentioned is that titanium is a poor conductor of heat, maybe there’s something there?

ParticipantIn Alexandria, on Monroe Ave., just at the south end of Del Ray, the city had resurfaced the road and then striped in new bike lanes. As part of the rehab, they also replaced the speed humps in the car lanes. This, however, only led to cars avoiding the speed humps by weaving through the bike lanes. I even saw cops do it.
That said, as of last week, there are three new speed humps through the parking lane and part of the bike lane. So, thank you Alexandria for recognizing this problem and acting quickly to address it.

ParticipantJust wanted to check to see if the midnight ride is still set for Saturday/Sunday? Steve O commented it was bumped, but I’m not sure if that means from this weekend to another. Thanks.

This thread makes me sad.
As a small consolation, I did witness a guy on a road bike crash while turning to ogle a woman jogger on the W&OD several years ago. Occasionally karma does its thing.
Saw a similar thing on the W&OD last year – between MP 4.5-5 – Guy slow riding behind a woman jogger and filming it on his phone. He was so absorbed in his creepiness he ran straight into a lamppost. While he probably didn’t learn a thing, you never know.

ParticipantSorry it’s taken me so long to get this posted. It was a good ride, looking forward to the next one. This is kind of a small version, let me know if you’d like me to email you the larger one.

So can we say New District, 4PM? I will wear my green freezing saddles wrist bands.
Sorry to miss out on this, but I’ll be out of town. Looking forward to meeting everyone next time.
Two questions: How can I get my hands on a FS wrist band? And, I’m switching from a 12-27 to an 11-25 cassette, what should I expect?

I believe in Freezing Saddles official lingo, once you have ridden more than 2 miles on one day, that is no longer a sleaze. There are prizes for the most sleaze rides, so yes, someone actually defined that.
Good info on that. I was wondering what the floor is for a sleaze ride. Not that I’m going to take advantage. If I’m getting all kitted up, the ride’s going to mean something.

ParticipantFirst time poster. Hi all. Until Mary emailed me today I had no idea I’d been picked for a team. I’m Kevin/kjdtarheel and I’m looking forward to meeting some knew folks and going for some rides. As soon as my ride gets out of the shop, that is. It’s in for overhaul after being rode hard and put up wet the past two years. Not that I put it up wet, that’s a figure of speech.
So as not to let the side down, I’m going to try to get out tonight for a short ride on the back-up bike. Looking forward to seeing you out there.
