Does anyone know how to clean Pearl Izumi Lobster Claw gloves? They have both fabric and leather, so I am reluctant to throw them in the wash. Dry cleaners?

I throw my commuter PI full finger gloves (also fabric/leather) in the washing machine at 30/40 deg C at least once a week, and just let them air dry on the drying rack. They don’t look beautiful after the second or third wash, but they hold up fine. I think the key is not to put them in the dryer -that’s death for leather, synthetic or authentic.

I used to ride the Camden line MARC a few years ago, and the conductors were quite consistent with bikes, even folding bikes (which had to be in cases) and bike gear – it has to fit in the overhead. If it does – you’re fine

If you review last year’s discussion on the Capital Crescent Trail Coalition’s website (http://www.cctrail.org) you’ll note that both Montgomery County Department of Parks/Rec and the National Park Service (responsible for the DC section) respond that there are insufficient resources in today’s increasingly austere fiscal climate to devote personnel and equipment to clear the trail. Some of us actually resorted to clearing obdurate sections of the Trail ourselves last winter, when the remains of the Blizzards of December and February took weeks (yes, weeks) to melt to bare pavement. I’d suggest studded tires for your commuter bike, and a sense of humor. . . .
