How would I post anything to that strava club? All I can see that it does is to show the data on everyone’s rides.

I’m getting very frustrated about this. I have been directed to THIS thread as a place to post rides, but there is not a single ride posted here. I’m not talking about big event rides – I’m talking about a place to post a ride for tomorrow, or this afternoon. A place to say something like

“Hey it looks like it’s gonna be nice out this weekend. Anyone wanna join me for a ride starting at 2 pm at the intersection of the Custis & W&OD trails?”

Is this thread that place? Because it sure doesn’t look like it to me.
Boomer linked to another thread, but the title of that thread is about a specific ride that already happened – so I’m thinking that’s not a good idea either.
I was gonna start a new thread, but was redirected here. But I’m sure nobody’s looking for rides here (are they?) and I can’t see a way to pay anything to the strava club.

You have to click on “Discussion” on Strava whilst you are in the group. It’s stuck in kinda a funky area, but see the attached screen cap with arrows.

I’m sorry I left and didn’t check this! Oh well, I set out to find a bike and found one to borrow – from a coworker that wasn’t at the training but lives near the office who happens to have a neighbour afflicted with n+1. So it worked out in the end, and I didn’t drag a stationary outside.

I don’t know. I have never made a Strava heat map. But you are welcome to research it ;-)

That was me that commented. I wanted to make sure everyone that was on a team was getting counted.

Please click on the following link:
freezingsaddles.com/authorize

That will link your Strava account with the FS app so that your rides count towards your team’s point total (and so you can be in the running for the pointless prizes).

😎

Oh. I was wondering why things looked a little weird, but didn’t put it together.

Worst team captain.

I see that the FS site reports avg temp for my rides. Is there an easy way to calculate and report (perhaps under pointless) an average temperature for all of a users rides? Give each rider an average riding temperature?

Beerneur the 5th
Rock Bottom, Bethesda
Fun thing I learned on this trip: Rock Bottom and GB are owned by the same company.

Wicked Elf
OG: 18.4
8.4%
IBU: 35
Dry hopped, Belgian style dark strong ale

This one was super yummy. If I didn’t have 5 empty growlers at home, I might have bought one to go.

Trouble
OG: 19.6
9.1%
IBU: 23

Another Belgian style, but not as tasty as the Wicked Elf, whilst not bland it tended that way compared to the Wicked Elf.

On my way to this location, my chain decided to jump ship and quit on me as I climbed the steep hill from Mass Ave to the CCT. It bent one of the teeth on my front chainring on it’s way out too. Rude.

Fortunately, Sam stopped and he had a chain tool so we popped two links out and put it back on. We then had to bend the chainring tooth back into place because it was catching the chain and lifting it off the smaller chainring. Then I rode on the small chainring to Big Wheels and got a new chain, then continued on and successfully acquired beer.

The Strava group has 8 members joined.
The leaderboard shows 7, the strava group shows all 8 having done rides, so I will ask about that.

That leaves the following outstanding folks outstanding.
amsmith – Think they joined the group.
RenneYvonne – Think they joined the strava group.
Lizperaltareed – Was at the HH
Cmcmackin87
DaveK
elisa
Ellenct

Expect PMs from me directing you to this thread and the Strava group. They are going to be short so I can get outside and enjoy this not so freezing saddles weather!

Good to see people tuning in and joining the group! As far as I can tell, everyone on our team lives in DC proper, and we all ride bikes.

Of course, it might help if they posted the team rosters, so that those of us who weren’t able to be at HH knew which club to join…

Perhaps this is just encouragement to come to the HH next year…

Not the captain making the team?

False start, team 1. 15 mile penalty, repeat happy hour.

Yup. Some of us bike to Annapolis for a cup of coffee. Others to Mobtown for a beer. Never underestimate the power of quixotic obsessions.

(And, truth be told, the ride up to Baltimore’s pretty cool and worth doing if you know the route; just make sure you do it when the breweries are open)

I noticed as I started looking at these that some are only open for 4 hours on a Saturday or something like that. Would suck to roll up and be stymied by a locked door.
