ParticipantI second the motion. Loved the service when using it last Sunday, and plan on a longer return visit soon before they close down. Kudos to WABA and the volunteer valet-ers.

Here I was hoping ‘wonky’ meant your computer started giving you the truly nerdy info, like how fast you have to peddle to make the next green.
Check that the sensor and magnet didn’t get misaligned?[/quote]
Inevitably the answer to that first bit is “faster than you are pedalling now”….
Checked the alignment of the magnet and sensor, that is fine. Will inspect the other points for failure…darn technology won’t let me ride…..

ParticipantPerhaps riding with a partner is a good alternative. Who is going to mess with a pair of (or more) cyclists with lights ablaze?

September 21, 2011 at 11:17 am in reply to: How popular are the restaurants and stores at National Harbor? #930320JustinW
ParticipantNational harbor does make a good stop on a long-ish ride. It also gives you a good reason to bike over the Wilson Bridge, which offers great views despite also offering jarring expansion joints periodically as you cross. Those joints present a great chance to practice your bunny hops.
The place seems to be not-yet built out enough to seem completely viable. Time will tell. Still, it is a fun alternative.
There are some decent / good restaurants there and some curiosities, including a Peeps store for the sugar-rush fiends out there. There is more – some people live there and some businesses (non-retail) are located there as well.

ParticipantDo most helmet cams have simple handlebar attachment options?

ParticipantYup saw one on a tall gent taking part in a gentle ride west on Wo&D this AM. Good lookin’ duds.

ParticipantPinch flats, perhaps? Are you hitting a sharp-ish curb or bump in the road consistently with your rear wheel (perhaps while lifting the front off of the bump)? Easier to get these than you’d think. Given some of the road conditions around here (including transitions from path to road, sidewalk to road, etc.), I’m surprised we don’t have more such flats.

ParticipantTim,
Need any time Thurs or Fri, or Sat AM? I can help then. Let me know.

ParticipantAbsolutely rotten that they took advantage of you, but luckily your health is intact. That’s what matters. Sorry about the bike, of course, but we trust you to resolve that appropriately.
All, stay aware and stay safe.

ParticipantSaw him / her a couple of weeks ago. As usually, he/she was not impressed as I rode past…

ParticipantLast I heard was a -tentative- open date of October. But yes, it would be amazingly logical to create a connection to the MVT…and some of the admittedly hard to read drawings almost sort of part way depict such a connection….
Talk it up with whoever will listen. Don’t know who owns the land between the MVT and the new park (or do they connect) so finding that out would be job one.

ParticipantWhere are you on Columbia Pike? Can you pop up to Rt 50 and use that eastbound?

ParticipantWith these temps I figured I would take the long way home @4:15 today….as in most of the Arlington Loop. Too cocky .. Did not adjust my speed and got way overheated after a bit. The heat radiating off of anything paved is impressive….or depressive, really, tho that is not a word.
By careful out there.
