5 points for supporting the Vision Zero Rally and 10 more points for Rockville Bike Hub open house. 15 points! The upside down photos make me giggle.

    50 points for donating blood!

I’m awarding 50 points for the effort and for a long history of blood donations.

    Well, I tried.
I’ve been giving blood for decades. I made an appointment for Monday afternoon to give a double-red donation at the donor center on E St. in DC.

When I got there I was told it would be a 45-minute wait (plus, from past experience, the almost 2 hours it actually takes–which is also absurdly inefficient). That was unacceptable, especially since I had an actual appointment. I left.

After a couple of follow-up conversations with Red Cross people, I have learned something. Yes, there is a blood shortage nationwide. However, that blood shortage has nothing to do with lack of donors, which is what their marketing seems to imply. I had to wait weeks just to get an appointment, because they are completely booked. The shortage is a problem with staffing; there is no shortage of donors. If anything, there are too many donors.

So my giving blood or not will make no difference in the blood supply. Knowing that, I am not willing to put up with the nonsense of interminable waiting to give blood that someone else would give if I weren’t there. Same amount of blood collected either way.

    So no points for me.

I caught Boomer in the wild working on his new YouTube show where he critiques the craftsmanship of Little Free Libraries. Here he points to the magnetic latch and pocket hole screws.

Now that Wordle got bought up by the NYT, many are worried that the game will go from free to a subscription fee. But there’s good news for cyclists who love Wordle. Now there’s Bikle, which is a game using the same format but instead of plain ole words, it uses a database of past and present professional cyclists.

    https://cyclingmagazine.ca/sections/news/theres-now-a-bike-version-of-wordle-and-its-pretty-hard/

Personally, I wished they used all kinds of bike terminology. But since it was created in Italy, I suppose this was the best way to make it international.

If it doesn’t have enough spaces to type SteveO then I don’t want to play.
