My volunteering this week included attending the monthly meeting for the Rockville Bike Advisory. I could have biked there on Wednesday but it was still virtual. My usual volunteering at the Rockville Bike Hub was interrupted with a broken spoken so I learned how to true a wheel. Met some other great volunteers there! Today I went to RBH not only for #scavhunt but to help with a youth service project too.

10 more points for volunteering for FoMVT even though you didn’t collect any tolls for us while you were under the bridge.

Another belated post. . . Volunteered Tuesday evening (Mar 1) at Phoenix bikes’ training program. Learned to adjust breaks and derailleurs. (Was so busy getting derailleurs adjusted just right I forgot to take a pic[emoji16])

10 points for volunteering for Phoenix Bikes. I’ll let the picture slide but you have to promise to adjust my deraullier the next time I see you.

5 points! I didn’t know Earth Sangha had volunteer events. They have a great selection of native plants and a reputation for helping nonprofits plant natives.

    Hi all,

Does anyone know if it’s possible to request that specific bike lanes be swept? There is so much glass and debris near the construction just south of Whole Foods in Pentagon City, as well as on Crystal Drive.

    Thanks in advance –

    Krista

You can put in a 311 request. They have a MyArlington app that you can submit requests through.

5 points for bike to work day advocacy. I’m going to pretend that you rode your bike around your living room while doing the stuff on the 13th to award 5 points. 10 points.

On Friday the 11th, I helped person the table at Alexandria Winter Bike to Work Day. I spoke with a couple of people about biking in the area, suggested a bike shop, and plugged BPAC. I exchanged thoughts and ideas with a City employee, with the new WABA Exec director, and with a certain gentleman from BikeArlington.

On Sunday the 13th, I reviewed the proposed charter for the Communications Committee of the Alexandria Industrial Development Authority board. I also reviewed some material for Liveable Alexandria, the pro transit, pro housing group I am involved with – on the 11th I sent an email to Council supporting a new committed affordable housing project in the West End.

I volunteered at the FOMVT trash pickup at Gravelly Point today.

My personal haul included a pizza box, two glass bottles, a toy jet, three facemasks, too many napkins to count, and enough fiddly little bits of styrofoam that I might go Hulk on the next styrofoam container I see.

A couple of wet shoes later (fortunately not my bike shoes), we’d each picked up 2+trash bags full!
