This is a Natural Mystic DIPA. Three Stars had the wonderful idea to make their DIPA only 8% so I can have one and not die riding the kids home down Kansas Ave. Kudos to Three Stars.

IMG_20180211_161143615_HDR by Jon, on FlickrThis is the Pit Pivo Czech black lager. Chocolatey. We had a beer outside in February. Thanks, Al Gore.

ParticipantSome horrible red at Hops. I’ve said this before – Hops is like if Ruby Tuesday’s made their own beer. It’s drinkable I guess. We only stopped because we needed food and wanted another beerneuring point.

ParticipantHazy something IPA at New District. I don’t know if I’m still getting my sense of taste back after being sick or if this beer is just blah. I’ll blame my sense of taste this time because I like New District. We saw some forum/BAFS people. It was good.
I also had their oatmeal stout that they released today. I was pleasant.

ParticipantI was hoping for a way that a non-technical participant could do it – it would be nice to have a thread to point people to when they email to say their phone died mid-ride or their Garmin bonked or whatever.

I don’t see why a ridewithgps.com gpx/txc export would not work.
Doesn’t it need time info? Can you do that with ridewithgps? I thought I tried it once and couldn’t get it to work, but maybe that was user error.

ParticipantI don’t know why we’d need an uptime service when we clearly already have an effective one.

ParticipantThis one was almost entirely Hans. Quite an impressive restructuring of the entire website in an extremely short amount of time.

I thought I was the only person who did this.
Are you kidding? Nearly everyone on this forum gazes wistfully at the cyclists we see when we have to travel by other means.

The People tab on the FS page appears to be sorting by “rides this week”, even if you try to sort by “mileage this week”. The total rides/total mileage sorting works just fine.
I think that’s just a UI issue – use the arrows to the RIGHT of the column you want sorted.

ParticipantMy adult return to cycling began when Capital Bikeshare launched. We were at some event with some friends, and the woman at the Bikeshare display happened to be a college classmate of one of our friends. They go to talking, and I got a CaBi membership. At the time I was commuting exclusively by Metro, but pretty soon we had a CaBi station right down the street from my house and right down the street from the office. I started bike commuting sometimes – usually I’d do the morning ride downhill then Metro back home. Eventually I started riding both ways more often than not.
In May of the next year, I got tired of never being able to get a CaBi in the morning and I bought my first bike, an aluminum Giant road bike. It was great until a cabbie making a u-turn on PA Ave hit me and totalled the bike. Soon after I got my Bianchi, then the longtail, then the fixie, and here we are.

ParticipantAs seen in lordofthemark’s photo above, I too was at DC Brau, and had my own OTWOA. The trip was made even better by meeting one of my BAFS teammates randomly on the Anacostia Trail. Because apparently if you’ve ever touched a bike, Judd knows you, he convinced handlebarsdc and her non-BAFS friend to come with us.
Bladensburg Rd was not particularly fun.

ParticipantEveryone better go ride tomorrow in case we don’t end up getting a snow day.

Is it “nearly” just because you’re leaving open the (slim?) possibility there’s one you haven’t been to before, or because there’s one you’d refuse to tell folks how to get to?
Actually you’re right, it’s all. DC Brau (awful streets and bad sidewalks) and Three Stars (hills) are challenging for kids. I led a group of four kids and three other adults from Atlas to DC Brau to The Public Option over the summer and no one died.
