Sorry, I wasn’t clear. Angle on the other axis – in your link, go down to “Vertical Face Alignment”.
That link might be what I need, though. Thanks

ParticipantSchwalbe seems to think that providing information to compare their tires via their website is not a thing that should be done

What do you have on now? I’d probably pick a schwalbe marathon pro as the most bombproof, and they can be pumped to crazy high pressures. (They also ride like bricks.)
I had a Schwalbe Big Apple Plus before, this is a Big Ben.

I say, just keep getting a flat every day and use it as an argument with the wife for that triple from craigslist.
It’s not giving me the option to ELITE this post but consider it done

ParticipantNote that they moved the Freedom Plaza stop indoors.
From the email they sent: “the Freedom Plaza pit stop will be relocated across the street to the lobby of the National Theatre, 1321 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, across from the on-site DC Circulator bus.”
It was outside on Boat to Work Day. They were giving out t-shirts in the Circulator. I guess they wimped out this year.

ParticipantI saw a couple on them at the top of this climb in the Wine Country Century.

You did that with your Volpe, correct? Do you ever hit any steep climbs, and if so, do you have enough gears? Or is it the case that this is a mostly around-town bike.
The 2X10 on my gravel bike is usually good enough, but there have been a couple of times, like when climbing that beast of a hill up to Dirt Farm Brewery, where I ran out of gears.
I’ve entered the Youth Soccer Every [EXPLETIVE DELETED] Day stage of parenthood so I don’t ride anywhere for fun anymore.
Here’s the money quote from the thread where we discussed my move to 1X10.

So I was looking at a gear inch calculator. I’m currently 50/39/30 and 10 speed 12-30. The gear inches in gears I actually use on a regular basis range from 43 to 103. If I switched to 48 and 11-42, that would be 30 to 116. I’d never really thought about that.

ParticipantBest thing I ever did for my bike was switch from 3X10 to 1X10. They can keep their 12.

Even if the buses weren’t always there, these bike lanes are kind of pointless
Those bike lanes are NOT pointless. They allow DDOT to brag about how many miles of bike lanes they’ve installed without actually inconveniencing any Maryland drivers. You didn’t think bike lanes were meant to benefit cyclists, did you?

Oh. Thanks. It may not change whether I can attend or not, but it makes it slightly more likely

ParticipantI can’t be there tonight, but my family regularly rides from Columbia Heights to Brookland and to access the MBT. That highway north of the hospital is absurd. It’s way too big for the amount of traffic it gets. The highway-style on-ramps are incredibly dangerous. The angle to check for oncoming drivers, who are usually speeding, is really awkward. I am not at all comfortable with the kids in the road where the speed limit is 35 mph and drivers are doing 45 or more (not sure why they removed the speed cameras from there, they were at least mildly helpful).
DDOT likes to complain that they’ve gotten the low-hanging fruit, but they’re lying. They’ve gotten the fruit that’s already fell on the ground years ago. This project would be expensive, but it’s absolutely necessary.

ParticipantSo sorry this happened, and very glad you’re ok. Go to a bike shop that handles your brand and get them to write you a letter explaining that the bike is totaled (it is). There’s ZERO CHANCE any manufacturer will tell you it’s okay to ride a carbon frame after getting hit by a car.
The insurance company will probably be thrilled to buy you a new bike rather than a new car – you can probably salvage most if not all of the components.

ParticipantWill I be able to get a rubber/plastic strip at your average bike shop?

ParticipantUber acquiring Jump might actually be ok. Yes, Uber is a toxic corporate entity. But what happens if they do to dockless bikeshare what they’re doing to the cab industry? With cabs, as much as I have my issues with cab drivers and their less-than-safe driving, it’s actual people having their income disrupted by Uber subsidizing each trip. With dockless, where is the victim? It probably HELPS cab drivers if we have better bikeshare – it means that many more people giving up their personal car. Even the most hard-core cyclists among us admit that, for some people, sometimes your bike isn’t the best way to get somewhere.
So, depsite Uber being terrible, this might not actually be the worst thing that can happen.
