Expect any trail that floods to be flooded, by the looks of things. Also expect traffic to be a cluster.

Fixed. Thanks, I don’t know why I do that. And I did it when I was talking to my wife, too.

According to Twitter, GW Parkway is flooded at DCA. Likely to affect MVT as well.

One of the things that really stuck with me from my mom teaching me how to drive was “courtesy accidents”, where someone yields when they have the right of way and causes a crash trying to be nice. She told me to never trust anyone waving you through when you can’t see. Too bad my mom didn’t teach Kenny how to drive.

Anyway, glad you were able to walk away, however gingerly. Heal up quickly.

In the video, you can clearly see the parking line and the parking meter, implying it’s legal.

Ah, so you can. I stand corrected. That’s REALLY on DDOT then.

I’m pretty sure the last car was illegally parked. Not being able to see me doesn’t entirely excuse the driver – you don’t make a turn through a lane without checking to see if it’s occupied. But yes, most of the problems with M are design, followed by enforcement, with human nature bringing up the rear.

Turning right on New Hampshire from M is basically a U-turn and should be illegal.

I haven’t heard details, but adjusting the light timing would be complicated. I’ve NEVER had to stop at this light. A leading pedestrian interval (LPI – where the ped light goes green before the car light, bikes can go on the ped light in DC) wouldn’t do much unless you retimed all the surrounding blocks, which would probably mean retiming half of downtown.

M and L remain poorly thought-out and poorly executed. I would never let my children use either of them, and wouldn’t even be that comfortable carrying them there on the longtail.

One block before that about a month ago I had a lovely interaction with a driver making a blind right turn without even imagining that I might be there.

My condolences to the family and friends of the cyclist. I’m sure Mayor Bowser sends thoughts and prayers.

Nothing to add except that I am also interested in this – stuffing a regular cooler into a regular pannier, as I did yesterday, is ok I guess but I’d love to see a better solution.

Success – I got the pads adjusted properly. One of the pads was missing one of the pieces that lets you adjust the angle, so that’s why I couldn’t get it right. But now my bike stops quietly and I’m happy.

Indeed. Or if you come down Q and try to turn left into the NB cycletrack with a green light but four cyclists are either running the light or halfway into the intersection in preparation for running the light.

This is such a beautiful statement. Bike congestion! We built a pretty good protected cycletrack and what do you know, so many people are using it that it’s getting crowded.

I believe you – I know you don’t mess around with your equipment. But that’s the style of brake on the kids’ bikes and my mom’s super cheap hybrid, so I assumed the entire style of brake was bad, not just the low end versions.

Replace them with TRP Mini V brakes; it’ll be the best $90 you have ever spent. https://www.trpcycling.com/product/cx-8-4/

Or just get a new bike with disc brakes, which will be the best $xxxx.xx you ever spent. :)

The TRPs look like what comes on super low-end garbage bikes so that’s a surprising recommendation from you.

My next bike will definitely be hydraulic discs but that’s not happening any time soon.
