ParticipantThe One IPA – a little soapy, but not in a terrible way

Mojito blonde ale – Wow. Just wow. Can’t really put this one into words

ParticipantFearless the Idiot IPA – Had to get a second pour because the first was full of sediment. They were happy to oblige and the second was quite pleasant

ParticipantI should be able to stop by, though it’s not worth taking my bike out of the basement to ride two blocks to Thirsty Crow.

ParticipantRye Not: Rye-y. Good. I wish I remembered some of my sign language

So-Hy-Pa: pretty solid IPA. This had been a day of solid IPAs.

ParticipantS.C.A.M. Alert – IPA: Pretty basic IPA. Pleasant. Not hazy so that’s good
Private IPA: better than the SCAM Alert.
Big family ride – the top four kids on the Pointless Kids leaderboard rode from Brookland (Some from Columbia Heights) out to Franklin’s. Multiple playground stops. A good time was had by all.

For sure! I’m wondering now if I got a bad batch since it really had a funk to it. Grapefruit juice would have been a big improvement.
Oof. Considering the cleanliness of the restaurant and the inattentive servers, that wouldn’t surprise me. Unless I hear from someone eventually that Granite City has greatly improved, we won’t go back.

ParticipantRoggenbier: Never heard of this style before. It’s good. Tastes kind of Belgian-y

Oat Pale: very mild and oaty

Feb 1 at Granite City. Got the Wicked, an unfiltered IPA. Not a fan. Too hoppy and a weird tangy finish. Not gonna finish this one.
You should have read my tasting note: Wicked juicy IPA: tastes like grapefruit juice. Would not recommend

ParticipantGiganticus DIPA: DIPA-y. Perfectly pleasant, pretty strong.

Lord Juicy: oh look it’s a [expletive deleted] hazy IPA. What a novel concept. This one is actually kind of a failure at haziness, which turns out to be a good thing

ParticipantA little unplanned trip – test riding new bikes for Gremlin 2 at Bicycle Space, so we figured if we were THIS close…

This was at National Harbor right! I liked that Zug Zwag too!
Yeah, my first time at National Harbor. Kind of like The Wharf, but with less soul and walkability, which is quite a feat.

ParticipantZug Zwag vanilla porter: smells good. Tastes decent

Wicked juicy IPA: tastes like grapefruit juice. Would not recommend
The Duke pale ale: solid. Citrus. This place was kind of dirty and the service was not great. They weren’t busy, they just seemed not to be doing much. And they were out of more than half their beers. And the ride there is not all that awesome.

Jan 25 at Rocket Frog. Got the Angry, Angry Alice because I like imperial IPAs and I was angry that it was way more damp than I had planned for when I left my house this morning. A little disappointed with Alice though…just not a lot going on with it other than the “let’s up the IBUs” trend which I thought we had finally passed. Oh well.
Just want to mention that in 2018 when I won this contest I got to 28 breweries, while it’s now January 25 and you’ve been to 21. I think you’re my wife’s hero.
