Velo Mine has good prices on machine built wheelsets. They also have hand built wheelsets, but those would get you close or past your $500 limit.

Went to REI to return a rain jacket. Walked out with a pair of Giro Gauge shoes for $55 sans footbed kit. They also had a pair of Giro Carbide shoes for $25. I bet other area REI stores would have similar deals.

Leaderboards are back for hazardous segments, but you have to sign a waiver. No, KOMs or QOMs and you can’t set a goal on a hazardous segment.

No local dealers, but Creme Cycles out of Poland has this pretty steed. Tati bike shop in Chicago offers the milkbar. Can’t find a store page, but the last time I looked the price was around $500.

It was tough ride, but I had fun most of the time. The hills kept going and going and going. They were great once I settled into a good rhythm. Saw Jeremiah Bishop at packet pickup, he’s a really nice guy. I’d do it again and even the Diabolical Double if I didn’t have to ride with Hans.
