Since when is the weather forecast actually been accurate, and why is it always in CAPS? They need to fix that keyboard – caps lock key has been stuck for years!

Cool – I don’t feel so bad splitting lanes now. I definitely do feel safer going down the middle of L.

It shaves about 20 minutes off my commute compared to driving.

Yeah, L street is a mess and I’m not so sure bike lanes will help unless all vehicles obey the rules. There are parking garages on both sides of the street too. I may end up splitting lanes and dodging traffic more often with the bike lanes in place.
    It is one way eastbound.

Which is worse? From my commute this morning:

Still waiting to hear why you disapprove and want me to get caught.

Also, what is worse – splitting lanes or running red lights? I never run red lights, but cyclists running red lights on M and L is way more common than me getting right hooked by beemers.

A little factoid about the double diamond automatic counters on the trails – if you want to make sure your rides are counted by those, try to avoid riding across them right at or very close to the middle where the two diamonds intersect. Go for the wider parts. Counts add up to benefits for cyclists.

Thanks! I think about that exact question every time I ride over them!!!

I also wonder if it matters which side I ride over – if I’m going eastbound and move over to the left side and roll over the diamond on that side, does it mess up the trail counts? This happens often when I am crossing key bridge while passing pedestrians.

And by the way, I’m not referring to the “scooter” ebikes with the useless pedals that are there just comply with federal law. I mean a bike you can actually pedal without motor assist. I have put nearly 5000 commuting miles on my ebike this year. There’s no way I could do that without some assist.

The first comment was written before I realized you were on an E-bike.

Yes that’s obvious. What I really want to know is why that changed your mind. Clearly you don’t like ebikes and that’s fine with me, but I own several road bikes too and ride them regularly. My ebike is my car replacement. Really don’t understand why people hate ebikes so much. It has literally changed my life for the better. Just my opinion though. Maybe you had a run in with some douchebag on an ebike? I really am interested…

By the way, why did you delete your original post that was kind of nice and replace it with a hate filled negative post? And why do you want me to get caught?

    I hate to whine, but…

Part of the downfall of this thread was that some of the posts were long and dense. When this happens, people tend to scan and skip relevant info. This is just the cost of writing long posts. That’s why I keep my posts short, snide, sexist and obnoxious.

In his original post, cyclingeconomist clearly stated he was talking strobes in daylight. While I might think this is overkill, it is likely not dangerous even on trails.

Now, the next time I see a long post like:

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah brifters blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah brifters blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah brifters blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah brifters blah blah blah blah,

you will have to forgive me for launching on the poster by responding:

Brifters??!!!?? You are obviously promoting immorality and encouraging the end of society.

    Sorry for the whine.

    Sorry, WOT? :-)

Best workout I get is riding my heavy ebike without motor assist.
