Thanks for the good advice and sharing your experiences. Here is a brief trip report of my inauguration day ride: I parked my car in Rosslyn at 4:20 am (no parking problems) and rode over the TR bridge. I encountered the first road closure at Virginia Ave, but bikes were permitted. I proceeded down Constitution and 17th until reaching Independence. There the roads were blocked to cars but not bikes. Official vehicles inside the barriers made things dicey once or twice but nothing very bad. I reached 7th and D SW in half an hour and chained my bike to a tree barrier. It was still there when I returned at 1:30 pm. (Yay) I was able to ride back on roads blocked to cars most of the way. The exception was Independence Ave. all pedestrians and bikes were forced to the sidewalk. Even with the walking I still made it back to my car in half an hour. It was a great day. I saw very few other bikes and only five pedestrians walking back over TR bridge. I would definitely do it again the same way.

I’ll be parking , my car in Rosslyn and bike riding over TR bridge, I think, and then to Independence to 7th and D. Thanks for the confidence that I’ll be able to park it securely.

Thanks for the great info. I got a volunteer job for the inauguration and need to report at 7th and D SW at 5:00 a.m. I would love to ride in with others in like situation. FYI, we were told that sufficient bike racks will be installed on the south side of the mall, but I feel dubious about that. If anyone can confirm I would appreciate it.
