ParticipantAs much as I love cycling and encourage others to ride, I have to say, the DBS bikes are becoming a new type of urban litter. I live in Silver Spring, and some days I count more than a dozen in the two blocks from house to the first main bus stop at Wayne and Sligo Creek. I rather doubt the users leave the bikes like this, but most are on their sides, heaped together, like large, metallic, Bud Lite cans.
They seem to cluster near bus stops. Perhaps this is where they graze?

Very nice review. I read this book some time ago. It was inspiring, to say the least.

No, not this thread. You have to post in a different thread. One specific different thread. We won’t tell you which one, though. No, it’s not the one you’re thinking of.
Nooooo! 😱 Whatever will I do??!
I’m new, but this is NOT my first rodeo. Made me laugh, though.

ParticipantI’ve posted in this forum, but not in this thread, so I’m posting in this thread just to be safe…

I can’t wait for the legion of BICYCLING readers to come to DC just to do that segment, and wonder why in the hell it is so popular…

Ya wont see that particular spammer (or troll or malcontent or slacker) any more
I take it this doesn’t work retroactively (i.e., it doesn’t delete posts already in my feed), since I did this, and they are still there.
Damn.

Good. I wasn’t entirely sure it was spam. Seems the random question would prevent that.

Welcome!
The mushroom capital of the world is where I grew up! I’ll look for you in the wild.
We lived in KSPA when we were in PA… we liked the town, although it is pretty much convenient to… nothing.
Great for cycling. Five minutes out the door, and I’m on paved (sorta) low traffic roads. When I first moved there though, I used to get lost all the time… winding roads… never knew what direction I was facing.

ParticipantBeing a n👀b, I’m reasonably comfortable that I don’t get a vote, but I’m in the club that says the zipper pulls should be a different colour to make them more collectible and desirable.
I’m thinking I might buy extra, and scalp them to fair weather wannabes. 🤣

As a noob to FS, but a dedicated “niner”, I’m looking forward to dressing up and playing reindeer games.

ParticipantAs much as I’m all about encouraging cycling, the dockless bikeshares are about to make my wife go nuts.
They are left pretty much *everywhere*. They are becoming almost like litter! My wife says if she sees one parked in front of our house, she’s moving to the middle of the street. (She wouldn’t, but you get my point.)
I walked about 4 blocks yesterday down Eye St., and (what looked like) a homeless guy was kicking over every one he walked by. Must have knocked over 8… I picked the first two up, but then figured it wasn’t really my problem. 🤗

ParticipantI don’t mind being hijacked…
I’m sometimes just happy some other riders will talk to me… to @huskerdont’s point.

Weather? Personalities? Drivers? Do tell.
Well, the weather was certainly a shock for me. I think I had one pair of light tights when I moved here. Then I bought some thermal bibs to get through my first winter, when I wouldn’t ride unless it was sunny and over 35F. I didn’t ride much, obviously. I finally realized I needed more bibs and a lot of other gear… my rationalization was that you use it at least 5 months a year. After all, there’s no such thing as bad weather; only bad gear, right?
When I first started riding in Vegas, you definitely were taking your life in your hands, but in the last 10 years, it has really improved. The hills are a lot different, too. Longer, but not as steep.
