ParticipantHmm… numbers seem pretty questionable to me… https://www.bicycling.com/culture/chinese-dockless-bike-share-traffic-costs?utm_campaign=Bicycling&utm_source=bicycling.com&utm_medium=newsletter&smartcode=YN_0001493419_0001656185&sha1hashlower=576d9c3b1b9eb491f73011a35dfca8791ddab579&md5hash=b001aeeec479643e4f9ac1bf7b7de09d

I always thought their repair services were great, if on the pricey side. Their customer service, especially for non racers, was meh. But the main reason I haven’t been inside in forever is that they don’t service or carry parts that are standard on race bikes. So we looked elsewhere for the not-insubstantial business of maintaining our crazy cargo and e-bikes. (and we all know losing our business is the entire reason they’re closing)
Interesting… I had mixed results on their service. They rebuilt a wheel for me, which was great. But they totally hosed up my bottom bracket. Cervelos are famous for BB creak, so that’s one of the reasons I took mine there. Not only did it creak like a mattress at a cheap hotel when I got it back (it was fine before I took it in; it just needed new bearings), but I took it back three times where they basically told me they’d fixed it when they hadn’t. Blamed it chain rings, crank arm, etc. Finally had to take it somewhere else to get it done right. Turns out they had epoxied it in, too, which made it even worse to fix.
Never went back after that.

ParticipantAnd now… for some dockless bike share humour!
What do you get when you cross an OFO bike with a MOBIKE?
A MO’FO’ bike!!!
(Tell me you saw that coming!)

M St. is good on the dark sides of 7:00. Other times of day, not so much.
I haven’t really had a problem in the afternoon past 4pm. Mostly just phone zombies in the bike lanes.
To be really honest, I’m what my motorist friends consider “rogue”, because I prefer not to use the bike lanes in the heavily urban areas. Too many peds and people on bikes who can’t ride a straight line. At least vehicles are somewhat predictable. Plus, I take the lane, so I’m really an obnoxious rogue cyclist.

That area is where I need to divert. Yes, I think that might work… Thanks!

People on this board are apparently unaware that the general riding public has their seat 6-12 inches below where a “cyclist” claims it should go. That’s who the limebikes are designed for. True story: if your knees don’t stick out sideways at a 45 degree angle as you pedal, you’re doing it wrong.
Ah, yes. True that. Those are not our people… 😎

I sat on a Lime Bike once and it was waaaaaaay to small for me to ride. I’ve heard similar from people that are in the 5’8 range (I’m 6’3″ so I’m used to not being able to fit on things). I rode a MoBike twice last week. The first time I rode a mile and then abandoned it at a CaBi station since my knees were up in my chest. I rode another one .3 miles in Pentagon City because walking is for chumps.
That would be the case… I don’t know who the LimeBikes are designed for, but I’m 5′ 9″, and it was way too small, even with the seat post fully extended.

ParticipantFor a long time, I’ve been a CaBi member (I get it for free from my employer) but I’ve never used it. We moved buildings recently and had left my Kryptonite lock on the rack at the old building. Just for grits and shins, I grabbed a LimeBike for the trip (about a mile or so) and some cheap BAFS sleaze points to get my team captain off my back (just kidding, Cynthia!)
Wow. I almost felt like I’d NEVER ridden a bike before. I’m not used to not clipping in. I’m sitting straight up! And even with the seat post fully extended, the seat isn’t high enough! The bike is heavy, not terribly agile or comfortable (although I was able to jump a curb… sorta), and of course, my mind could not wrap itself around that I couldn’t simply pull the crank up to start with the foot that was still on the pedal.
I felt like I was in “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure”.
I just hope no one I knew saw me.

I know it is a bit of a haul for you, but Bikenetic in Falls Church, VA has some of the best mechanics that I have ever worked with and they are usually pretty spot on with regards to their promised “finished by” date/time. Once they have all the parts, I have never had to wait more than a day or two to get my bike back in great working order. They work magic on my very finicky IGH when it gets out of whack.
Thanks! I may give them a try if I don’t get a recommendation on someone closer… It beats going to Philadelphia.

ParticipantHi! I just requested to join Team 22 on Strava…
Rather than reintroduce myself, you can find my introduction here: http://bikearlingtonforum.com/showthread.php?12637-Introduction&p=168545#post168545.
I have not been outside since Christmas Eve, largely due to having a severe cold, which turned into a bronchial infection. My wife threatened to divorce me if I rode while I was still keeping her awake from constant hacking, but she’s out of town so I’m riding this weekend.
I look forward to meeting other team members soon!

I regret to advise that I will NOT be attending tonight. I don’t think I’m infectious, but I’ve had this miserable cold/bronchial thing going for two weeks now, and I’d hate to get blamed for someone else getting sick.
I am not a happy dude….
