Unfortunatly not, once the bolt is out there isn’t anything for the puller to push against.

So what’s the strategy to fix the problem?

Personally, I can’t have it both ways. I can’t expect cars to treat me with respect as a car as I move into the lane, and at the same time cruise into the pedestrian wallk as a back alley to skip a red light. Gaining the respect of car drivers totally out ways the minute wait, so personally i’ll wake up earlier….but I still say, the fine is way too high, and i would try having it reduced.

Yeah, the expensive ticket sucks. But he’s unlikely to win trying to fight it, because what was done was actually against the law. .

I wouldn’t be too sure about that. I recently spent a day in traffic court for an expired license. I unfortunately was one of the last cases to be called, so I essentially sat through about 50 cases. I was blown away by how many cases were thrown out, or reduced for cases ranging from excessive speeding to blowing stop signs. Using the pedestrian cross with a bike is wrong but honest, semi-misunderstood mistake. I would roll the dice and try to get this excessive fine thrown out or at least reduced to a manageable amount. This all depends if traffic court is worth your time.

My little bug cranked her three speed Giant up 23rd street hill to reach Oakridge Elementary school. I haven’t checked Strava yet, but I think she has her first KOM!
Now, I wasn’t able to stick around for the fun outdoor singing and dancing biking event they had, but in her words, “a GIANT who can run a million miles” spoke. Any relation to the giant who runs and rides a million miles that lurks on this site???
All in all, from what I am hearing from the PTA parents, it was a wonderfully fun, organized, and safe day that made many parents proud that they live in this community.
By the way, to celebrate this day W-L bike club took it first group ride. We took about 15 bugs around the Arlington loop. Only 3 of them had ever done it before and most had never rode further than 5 miles!

That’s actually Wonder Woman riding. So obviously be on the lookout for a pair of stolen golden bracelets and matching rope. She always was terribly fashionable. I do say, i really like her new pixie cut.

Wow, that is fantastic that you are sponsoring a school bike club! Thanks so much for that. Would love to hear more

    Good luck.

Thanks for the kudos and suggestions. Biking at our school has exploded to the point that the second teir of bike racks that were just added this year, are already getting close to not enough. The other teacher and I take the bugs on group rides, hold basic bike maintence class, and simply try to connect them with other bikers in the school. We set up a little shop in the back of the room so the little commuters have a place for a patch, pump, oil, tube and tighten something. The other teacher took a wheel building course this summer and has become pretty good at wheel building, so hopefully we will be doing a few wheel demonstrations for the kids. We have a lot planned.
Truthfully, so many of the kids were Pheonix Bike groupies that they are really teaching us.
Again thanks for the suggestion, there are many kids, including several commuting teachers, who would want one.

For those with longer commutes, this won’t need much extra effort. It’s only 32.5mi/day over 14 days.

Totally mis-read this challenge. I thought it was 400 in four days!!! 14 days is much more manageable, i actually have a chance to complete this one!

I thought doing this weekend’s Back Roads Century would help me complete this challenge, but then I realized I need to do the Century four days in a row, and then ride to the super far Starbucks. I’m in it for the humility factor.

Dang, a lot of big chainrings in this neck of the woods. But it is funny, once you start googling different ratios, you will get 15 different answers for the same ratio. I have had 3 different fixed gears and all have been 42/16, so I know no better. I have a 42 crank and a 16cog poised for the new build. I don’t want to change the chainring for it is a pain and cost more than tinkering with a different cogs. Might have to go to 42/14 to get a feel what you guys are cranking.

    And the answer was, Yes.
Although, if I understood it correctly, it is no longer sponsored by Revolution, but people will continue to meet at 8:15 on Sunday until the weather gets bad.

“We should remember that Tim was recently soliciting ideas for new Bike Arlington kit.”

It doesn’t look like it is a ‘club’ fit, so it works for me.

i don’t have it front of me, but the crank is sugino (sp?). It is not the crank itself, but the spider bolts that were loose.
Same thing happened on my buddy’s bike, Calfee with Dura Ace, he was riding around with two bolts missing for most likely a while.
