Sniff, sniff. Never once have I been called unique. Next year could you please classify us as magical visitors. I always wanted to be called magical.:D
But seriously, well done. It obviously appears you are getting the word out and enlarging the awareness. Bully to BA!

This guy’s currently atop the leaderboard on the Strava cycling base miles challenge:

I think he must have accidentally had his Garmin recording when he took an airplane flight!

Actually he was most likely using his iPhone, and if you look in the Strava forum there were probably 700+ posts from the Garmin-Heads calling foul,,, in French no less :p

You say their light is a “hit” with you? I was thinking of getting one; which one do you have? I really want a one piece light because moving the battery pack of my current light between bikes is a pain.

I have the Lezyne Super Drive, but it appears they have upgraded it to an XL model and looks tad bit different.

Mon dieu! I have heard of such black magic, but I have never seen it preformed before….you’re not going to have to kill me now are you?
Thanks a lot. I will have to practice in the garage once or twice to make sure it was not done by mirrors.

Good to know about your misses. I have a couple good hits from Lezyne, pressure drive pump, trigger drive co2, light and their alloy levers, but it is good to be aware not all their stuff is given to be good.

Bibs, it’s funny, after this beating hot summer, I actually bought three shorts after being exclusively bibs. besides, it felt good to show my plumber butt again!

Zoinks! Vector Comp front wheel for $25! A heavy tank that will last. Heck, throw it on your cross. This is a steal. I’m wheeled out.

    Yup- I do.

If you have a new iPhone (5) you have some cool options- ANT+ is replaced by BT4 and you can use the new RFLKT display while keeping your phone safe and warm in a pocket. http://www.wahoofitness.com/RFLKT/?returnFull=1

I’m a bit torn- the elevation is the biggest bummer for me but the ease of use wins out in the end. I know myself and I know that I won’t get around to uploading from a Garmin, especially on little rides.

Thanks for the great advice. I would like to say my garmin 305 is more than adequate with a couple key exceptions. Although the maps of the more advanced Garmin are impressive, I can honestly say I don’t use the maps much. I found my my wrong turns are easier solved by my phone GPS.
My gripe with my garmin is basically two fold, the lettering is too small for my old eyes, and I am already caring my phone. I was most concerned with battery life for a 2-3 hour ride, which it is sounds like a wahoo solves. Does the wahoo ANT support the Gamin heart and cadence sensors, which I already have? When using a Wahoo, is there a specific app I have to use, or will any work?
I also hear you on that a mounted iPhone is a wing, but honestly I would be carrying it anyway, and that head wind is going to hit my body anyway, so that is something I will need to get over. I think my biggest hurdle will be getting over funny looks from weight weenies on group rides who will be most likely making jokes of a coffee cup holder.

As for uploading, I too never upload my garmin. I used to bring my iPhone as back up for my garmin, now it is the reverse.
As for elevation, are you referring to elevation during a ride or the total at the end?
    Thanks again all,

for the return, is taking the Staten Island ferry free and part of the ride, or do you have wait in line and purchase tickets? I’ve got to assume this is a mess at the end. Thinking of this ride, but a little worried about the return.

Cool vid. But I would like to throw it out there, despite a fixie’s deceptive simplicity, they have always cost me way more to build than I anticipated. Not to say it isn’t fun building one, but every time I was done building one, I often concluded I could have picked up a decent one for slightly less on Craigslist. So, if you’re going to build one take your time and buy decent parts, so when your finished it will be something that you are proud of and not something you are afraid to ride and need to replace in a week.
Also, be forewarned, once you build one, your life will be haunted by the “Single rear wheel with flip flop hub” craigslist add that will forever taunt you to start another build.

Yous gotta be fricken kiddin me!
All though, I have ridden in NYC a few times, but every time it is from the hotel room and back. No way in heck would I leave a decent bike locked on a street in NYC. Although it would kill me to pay 15 bucks a day to go to work on a bike.

Is there a strava or Garmin of this route? I’m a little nervous to get on a group ride with a bunch of KOM junkies.

    found it

I don’t have a specific mile goal, but I do have a few riding goals.
    1. Diabolical Double
    2. I want to complete Strava’s early season hill challenge
    3. NYC’s five Burroughs Challenge, more for fun, for I had such a blast with NY Century last year
    4. On a nice Saturday morning, my little girl and I complete the Arlington Loop
    5. Take the W-L club to Mount Vernon and back, and (fingers crossed) the C&O to Harper’s Ferry one way

Thanks for the help. I am going to check the head set. Took it for a spin and really think it coming from there. I am not sure how , but it just sound like something is knocking in the headset.
Btw, here is a picture of my latest build. It was my old Postal that I cracked the hanger cranking up a hill. It killed me when my LBS said it could not be repaired. I about to hang it as a wall ornament, when I came across an ENO hub on Craigslist. I retooled it with a 46 sugino crank and a white industries 17 cog. It is amazing how light the postal is after stripping all the extra medals.
Again, thanks for all the great advice,

I just saw this really cool movie and I think I am going try a Super Serum for a week, and if that doesn’t work I’m moving on to gamma rays. One of them has to improve my speed.
Honestly, ibuprofen and an occasional aspirin. But I have moved from coffee to black tea and I feel loads better.

Great advice!!!! I just noticed that my lockring was not totally screwed in after reinstalling it. That would have made me cry if I stripped it.
    thanks
