Two Metro trains at once! Not too frequent an occurrence so late at night.

I donated “That Bear Can’t Babysit” to the Little Free Library outside the YMCA at 1906 Allison St. NE DC. It joined a few other kid books and a couple popular adult fiction books, as well as the Time Life VHS series about Rock ‘n Roll and several pairs of brand new heavy duty winter gloves!Indiana

ParticipantWoo hoo!
I donated “Touch and Feel Baby Animals” to this Little Free Library shaped like a schoolhouse with a bell tower, modeled after the very first official Little Free Library. It’s located at 12th and Hamlin NE DC, directly in front of a daycare, so baby books are appropriate.
(I didn’t try to maneuver my bike to get a closer picture because I could hear the naptime music playing and didn’t want to risk a loud clatter right outside the door. Closer photo without bike is in Strava.)Indiana
ParticipantLittle Free Library at 3rd and M NE DC, #withkidSnowLeopard who approves of the kids selection.

Preschoolers helped build this Little Free Library near Two Rivers Public Charter School in DC, according to the plaque on the side. Here they are with their tools: https://eleducation.org/news/two-rivers-public-charter-school-pre-kindergarten-students-build-little-free-libraries
It could use more books for their age group. It did have a book I was thinking of purchasing, which I left for someone else to discover: “365 Days of Wonder.” It’s a companion book to the beautiful book “Wonder,” by RJ Palacio, which is written for middle grades but is a touching lesson in empathy for older humans as well. The one in the little Free Library contains 365 quotations about kindness plus a monthly kindness essay.
It made me think of that beautiful kindness activist who I learned about from Catedrew’s great post on this thread!

Anacostia River. According to the Anacostia Watershed Society, “The word Anacostia is derived from the Nacotchtank Indian word anaquash. Literally translated into English the word means village trading center.”

Little Free Library on Monroe St NE between 20th and South Dakota. Interesting mix of of books and cool latch made from a stick or maybe a wizard’s wand… I added Dune. Didn’t get my daughter’s bike in the photo because she saw one of her favorite neighborhood dogs playing in the nearby field and wanted to play, but she was on the ride!

ParticipantThis Little Free Library on 22nd and Taylor NE is responsible for getting Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in my head on today’s rainy ride. I have only seen the film and had no idea that the book was written by James Bond creator Ian Fleming!

Not that we want to glorify cars in a biking game…so this library could use more books about people pedal power! -
