An expert in psychology might possibly tell you if you are “normal”…or just next to it.

My daughter and I were enjoying determining what we passed was engineering versus what was biology or chemistry on our ride to the National Mall. She pointed out a sign that shows that humans are not the only engineers:

ParticipantI’m so curious about who it was that surprised me when I was photographing the book I dropped off (“Milton the early riser”) at the little Free Library on 4th and Evarts NE and asked, “Freezing Saddles?”

I was going to drop off more books since the library was completely empty when I first spotted it several days ago, but now it is magically near full. I borrowed “Ozma of Oz” for my daughter.Indiana

Riding past this sign I thought of the people who use computer science and mathematics to beat the lottery. E.g. http://archive.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2011/07/31/a_lottery_game_with_a_windfall_for_a_knowing_few/?page=fullIndiana

ParticipantKidSnowLeopard and I checked out the empty Little Free Library outside Capitol Hill Day School but unfortunately didn’t have any books with us today to add.

The Zero Milestone, located on the Ellipse in front of the White House, is a zero mile marker monument intended as the initial milestone from which all road distances in the United States should be measured when it was built.

ParticipantLittle Free Library in front of the Aquatic Resources Education Center on the Anacostia River Trail #withkidSnowLeopard and #withkidPuppy, no middle grade reads for them or much at all. Could use aquatic science books for all ages!

I also went to Capitalsaurus Court this morning, pausing also to snap a few shots of Congressional buildings since people keep saying Congress is full of dinosaurs. Maybe a paleontologist can sort out that mess.I do love how it was school children who lobbied to give DC it’s own official dinosaur and name a street after it! I wonder if there’s still more dinosaur bones under the park there…
