nattybWe need an official unofficial name – so start those suggestions and discussions. Also, a team logo might be nice for the club.
Feel free to use this space to start any other discussions relevant to our team’s success.
And get out there and ride more!
Nice meeting you and our present teammates Captain! I’m here to be led, molded, shaped into a lean mean cycling machine. Let us begin!

We did not say hello. We’ll have to organize a team ride to fix that.
As my birthday is the 22nd and my favorite book is Catch 22, I’m feeling good about our team, even though I don’t recognize forum names for most of you. I assume you all have 40 mile commutes and do double centuries on the weekends, right?
And speaking of my favorite book, my first thought for a team name is Can’t Catch 22, although BAFS names do tend to be more self-deprecating.
Fortunately I do have a 40 mile commute. You guys will have to pick up weekend saddle time. We have a 20 month old and a stay home mom who likes a break on the weekends.
That’s a good start for name jrenaut. I stopped and introduced myself briefly, sorry I didn’t chat with you more. My favorite Taylor Sift song is “22”! Maybe we could be the Taylor Swifts!!!! Just a thought. “It feels like one of those nights, we ditch the whole scene…doooo dooooo dooo doooo” It’s actually quite catchy.
There’s a wikipedia page for the number 22 also! So many ideas. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/22_(number)

Also, do people prefer email, forum, or Strava for communications?
I’m indifferent. I check all three equally obsessively.

Also, the $255 is an “up to” amount. You fill out paperwork detailing where you commute from, which method and how much it costs. The benefit then becomes average commute days per month times daily cost. It’s deposited direct to a SmartTrip card and anything unused at the end of the month is pulled back. Interestingly there are a lot of controls in place for the puny $20 a month bike benefit and relatively few controls in place for the regular transportation benefit. There’s not really anything stopping me from applying for the transportation benefit, riding my bike every day and letting my roommate use my SmartTrip card for her commute.
Also be aware you can be audited by your organization, I was at full subsidy amount since I lived far away and would need all of it. Then I started biking more frequently and now only take metro once or twice per month. Our parking and transportation emailed me and said I was being audited, and reduced my subsidy to $64 a month. Apparently they get dinged for having lots of money left in the pot at the end of the year since the unused funds are taken back by the organization (but not given back to the fed) but doled out annually based on a reported need. It makes the organization look like they are asking for too much money.
Or something…If I need more than my subsidy allows though I can email some guy in the office and he’ll give me some hours if I explain why I need them.

ParticipantWhat are your hourly rates? With the sweet kegerator in the background I just want to come over, drink beers and use your tools so I don’t have to go buy them.

ParticipantSorry to go off the rails here, but the wait list for a special touring/road frame sounds way moire interesting! What are the details on that new toy? Just curious.

Today is about as good as it gets except the occasional March days. Lots of huge rides today, but the competition is a marathon. It was interesting to see lots of the folks with the early Vegas odds decide not to do 200 mile rides today.

Marathon indeed. My commute is what keeps me moving up the leaderboard, we’ll see who’s still crushing 200 mile weeks come early March. These fair weather, high mileage type riders come and go.

11-speed Ultegra always defaults to rubbing the cage in the big ring/small cog combo. I’ll adjust it and the next ride it will do it again.

I’m probably going to have to arrive by car. Bleh. Training in Frederick that day and I won’t have time to get home and bike there. Still trying to figure out how I can get my 30 miles a day that week without the bike commute.

There’s this place in DC called Hains Point. You might want to consider going over there. It’s a 3 mile loop and there’s very little traffic. Here’s a link to a map https://goo.gl/maps/Ymu1bspR1Wq

You can come that way. You’ll win the FS award for either “Best Smelling” or “Most Kempt.” Seriously though, it doesn’t matter. People show up in work clothes, bike clothes. no clothes. It’s all good.
