ParticipantOn a slight tangent – Ahead of BTWD, DC Dept of Transformation and others are planning a human-protected bike lane on 14th St NW in front of the Trader Joe’s on Thursday, May 17 @ 7:30 am. I hope you’ll be able to come out and support it –> https://www.facebook.com/events/153828995462769/.
This will be followed after a full, productive work day with happy hour at Bar Roubaix in Columbia Heights –> https://www.facebook.com/events/458436844589856/.
If you have questions, please tweet me (@handlebarsdc) bc I stink at actually checking the forum

ParticipantHectathletes (or however we spell our 17-syllable team name): Who’s riding where this weekend?

ParticipantNeed to give credit where credit is due, Joe Flood is the co-conspirator for the TTHH endeavor.

ParticipantDon’t forget about the #BikeDC Happy Hour @ Velo Cafe on Thursday!

I’d love to do a ride this weekend, although my schedule is a little tight. We’re hoping to do a #beerneuring ride Sunday, all are welcome. I’ll post details once we figure it out.
Tentatively I’m open Thursday for mid-day HP laps if that works for people?

ParticipantI’ll probably never be able to spell Heptadecaphobia without copy and paste, but I’d vote for that. It’ll make the other teams think a little.
In other news – anybody up for a group ride next weekend? I hope the saddles won’t be too frozen. My limit is about 35 degrees (which is four degrees lower than last year, and about 10 from the year before that!). I’m in Petworth.

I second Heptadecaphobia. I propose that we have this and one or two more names for everyone to vote on, and perhaps decide by mid next week?

ParticipantEmail would be the easiest for me. Unfortunately, not the forum, and I stink at checking strava (but at least I remembered to run it on my last 2 rides!!!)
As for my schedule, probably after work is best. Could do some weekends, but not too early.

I prefer this forum, or Strava club discussion if we want to keep things more private to team members only.
My availability are mostly after work (in the dark) or on weekend mornings.

ParticipantI kind of like Tour de Frost or Mind over Miles, but I do like the idea of incorporating 17 into our team name. My best friend google pointed me here: https://www.theodysseyonline.com/17songs-about-being-17. If you wanted to do something really nerdy, we could incorporate chlorine/CL into the name… because that’s 17 on the periodic table.
That’s all I got for now.

ParticipantHey Team,
I’m Rachel aka handlebarsdc. I’m a freezing saddles newbie, but have been riding for a very long time. To be completely honest, I was hoping for a winter like last winter when I signed up for this and then the last two weeks happened. Hopefully we’re back to balmy for a while now. This time of year, I mostly ride around the city on my hybrid. If we get some nice days, I may get some longer rides on my road bike in. Disclaimer: I forget to run strava half the time, but I’m working on changing that
Happy to be riding with Team 17!
Rachel
