ParticipantThanks for that advice and I’ll give it a shot. However, it had that opportunity before I started riding and it had over an hour of riding to lock on. I don’t think that’s the issue.
Wahoo sent a suggestion to set my wheel circumference to “automatic” so the Bolt could use it as a cross reference for speed. They also commented that Strava used internal distances rather than raw GPS data, so a variance is expected. Neither of these make any sense to me. First off, I don’t have a wheel speed sensor and secondly, if Strava used internal distances, there would be no variance between the two recordings. Certainly not 12 miles difference.
I’m not very impressed thus far!

ParticipantCustis was in good shape this morning, excepting minimal ice on the bridges.
WO&D east to 4MR had several ice patches and the bridges were all very crusty.
As someone else posted, 4MR to Rt 1 is pretty clear.
MVT is mostly clear, but there are a few ice patches. Bridge are surprisingly clean. There is an ice patch at the turn onto 14th St bridge.
MVT on both sides of the 14th St bridge is a nightmare of goose poop. Glad I have fenders!Hancockbs
ParticipantCCT – Two very low hanging bamboo shoots across the trail just east of the tunnel. Easy to duck under, just don’t forget to duck. The trail is 99% clear, but careful of the 1%, which is obviously hard frozen this morning. Easy to have a tire redirected when you’re not expecting it.

Participant14 St bridge across Potomac is in good shape, but the access on the DC side has some hard pack. Ridable, but take it easy.
Haines Point gates remain closed, no snow cleared, but oddly, tire tracks packing it down in places.
Ohio is in good shape, but a few ice patches near the curb.
Maine Ave path is hard pack between 14th and Fish market and clear in front of Waterfront.

Please report back with your experiences with that shoe, after you’ve got a few cold rides — I’m curious if they make a measurable difference over “plain” bike shoes like my Shimano ME3’s, particularly on longer rides (1hr+) in low 30s or colder…
I’ve used these for about a week now. I’d estimate that around the freezing point they offer approximately 10 degrees F / 20 minutes of additional comfort over my cycle shoes with toe covers. They have very little insulation, but also little venting, so they do a good job of shedding water/slush kicked up from the road. I got them for about $100, so they are worth that to me, but your mileage may vary.

ParticipantThey’ve changed the feed so it pulls from the Team Clubs rather than the main FS club. When Team 7 gets added to the pull, we will show back up in the stats.

Could someone clarify whether the cap is applied each week or across the number of weeks in the competition (e.g., If one rides 7 days and 70 miles one week and 7 days and 130 the next, would they earn 310 points or 340)?
The rules indicate the cap runs Monday through Sunday, so I’m fairly certain it is a weekly limit and not an average or total over the entire time

ParticipantI tried to do a loop yesterday, but there was a cruiser parked in the road in front of the barriers. I too looped back out. Though the sign says so, I doubt there is currently any flooding.

ParticipantMy apologies to the rider headed toward JBAB this morning (6:10 am) on ART. I came off the Capital St bridge to make a right on ART. While I was in complete control and stayed on my side, I clearly understand why you slowed down and waited for me to make the turn. I appreciate you yielding your right of way to ensure I didn’t collide with you.

I’ll likely Uber to/from HH, so will gladly accept bribes in the form of beers.
However, accepting bribes in no way indicates the usefulness of said bribes.

ParticipantThanks for explaining. I wrongly assumed the days were governed by local time. On a side note, what are the bookends for the 100 mile weekly limit?

It’s the magic of time zones.
I don’t think so, unless the west coast time zone has changed this year. It appears he has three rides, all in the Seattle area, with two occurring yesterday. Somehow that has equated to three days.
