Greenbelt
ParticipantTrails in northern Prince George’s are clear. I rode quite a few this morning and no problems. NE Branch is clear from Lake Artemesia to Armentrout Road, with only a few brief ice patches, but easy to navigate. The wood bridge by the College Park airport is the only place I had to walk. A few icy patches where melt runoff refreezes by the railroad bridge and under Alt Route 1. College Park and Hyattsville trolley trails are clear, a few spots where snow is plowed up over the curb ramps. Even the Paint Branch trail is nearly clear between Lake Artemesia and College Park — asphalt showing through and easy to dodge remaining ice blobs.

ParticipantGot the snow tires on the heavy load bike and took an alternate route home last night. This future Greenbelt trail probably not rideable today though

ParticipantPlanning to do this ride with Rod on Saturday. He’s swinging by Proteus on the way — I will meet him there probably — if he rolls out on time from Vigilante at 7:20, that means the meetup at Proteus would be at about 7:45 or 7:50. You can park all day at Proteus no problem.

ParticipantMeetup at Proteus at like 7:45?
I might modify and just ride up the ART to Franklins rather than going through town. Look forward to joining you on this ride.

ParticipantI’m getting my next set of wheels from this guy I think (he’s back in DC, hopefully for a good while):

ParticipantCongrats to Team 6 as of March 6, they have all riders over 1,000 points!
We are very close to 1,000 for everyone, with one more ride from George and a week of commuting from Jon Robot. (PS. I hope you’re getting well!)
EDIT, the latest weather model says the bad weather might not come in until Saturday evening, so maybe we can squeeze in another excursion this Saturday. Then maybe a snow ride on the bike trails on Sunday!

ParticipantHere’s my shop ride for tomorrow. Meet at proteus at 10am, we’ll be at Shortcake Bakery roughly 10:30-10:45-ish, after that it gets murkier. Let me know if you’d like to meet up and we can cruise around together!
Pastry ride tomorrow 10am, with extension option to DC probably. For tomorrow I think we’ll have some riders heading straight back to the shop after the pastry stop at Shortcake Bakery, and I’m planning to take a long-ish, but not too strenuous sightseeing ride down to DC, across the river to Alexandria, back across the river to National Harbor, and back. Probably with a food or beverage stop on the return (ice cream, beer, who knows). Of course, if you want to do the extended ride but not the whole 60 miles, you can take Metro back from Navy Yard or National Airport etc. (or just turn around early and self-navigate back). Trails shouldn’t be too crowded tomorrow since it will be cold in the morning. -Jeff

ParticipantI’m thinking of an extended pastry ride that goes down the river, across to the Mount Vernon, then down through Alexandria and over the bridge to National Harbor. 10am-ish kickoff at the shop, 11am-ish from Shortcake Bakery. 1pm-ish from National Harbor; 2:30-ish from Bardo’s new beer garden?
