Much better than last night. I think that SW breeze that kicked up in advance of those storms cleared out some of the low level pollution. (Plus it was a tailwind for me!)

Here’s an example of how rough it can be trying to ride on Route 1 in College Park. You could argue that Lauren should have taken more of the lane. But still…

Only drawback I’ve found is that it’s harder to fool the full kitted once a week racer weenies when they can’t understand why they can’t easily pass you…

Isn’t it fun to walk away from the F K’d O-a-W R-Ws on the inclines every once in the while?

Especially at twice their age, and on a half as expensive bike. With 35mm CX tires. At 50 psi.

This isn’t a very big problem for most riders, since the detour in traffic isn’t that bad. But it must be a real pain for walkers. I wonder if a DC alert went out on this, or if blocking trails without warning is just not considered to be a big deal.

Whew! That wasn’t so bad. At least once I got to the shaded trails. Air quality kind of sucks though — I feel like a smoked a couple cigarettes on the way home. Now for the world’s best recovery food: a ham and cheese sandwich and a half-gallon of chocolate milk…

DCA is reporting 98 degrees with a heat index of 105 at 3pm. Pretty strong sun too. Everybody be careful out there this afternoon, the road temps are going to be blistering. I’m definitely waiting until later.
