Great idea, Eric! Wow, 3 Takoma Park teammates! And I grew up there.
Let the rest of us know if you can commute in together. Who knows, maybe more can join.
Yes. If we can get our act together, we could meet up on the CCT and combine riding together with bonus miles. Maybe on a Friday (but not this Friday)?

Yay, Erik! Shannon is in Takoma Park too and suggests that we all get together for coffee.
Short rides count extra! If we all ride consistently (even short rides), it will add up.“Keep Calm & Eat Cookies”
I am in Takoma Park too and generally around the next few weeks, at least after the 21st and not 1/27-28. If Erik or Shannon commute downtown, let’s try to ride in together some time.

ParticipantWhat a great day for a ride! I call in Janpril. We had about 8 folks show up, a mix of Freezers and others. We enjoyed a nice tailwind up to Sandy Spring and the first stop at Passion Bakery (so good!). After that the wind was not as consistently behind us, and the road definitely got lumpier as we worked out way north and west around Triadelphia Reservoir, then south to Waredaca Brewing for a welcome pint, snack, and a bit of sit down. We fought the wind home, but it could not blow the smiles off our faces to have such a warm day in January. I ended up with about 75 miles.
No MD Weekend Ride next week (unless someone else wants to herd the cats) as I will be in California for my son’s wedding.

ParticipantGreat! Just so I know, do you plan to meet us at Takoma or the French School? It does not matter, but I’d like to get a sense of what to expect.
Hope to see you tomorrow

ParticipantIn PPTC terms, B – BB, but not hammering. We did a similar ride last weekend and I ended up with a net average of about 14 MPH. There were some slower folks too. The average is a bit deceptive because we slow frequently for stop signs and lights as we wend through the ‘burbs.

ParticipantIf you are interested in this ride, please stand by. The exact route and timing are under review. The basics will be the same, although the start time may get a bit later. Final details will be posted by this evening. Feel free to PM me with questions

I live in Takoma Park, MD and ride the Anacostia River Trail a lot. I’ve also added in Rock Creek Park hills for variety. I’d love to meet others who ride near me.
BicycleBeth,
I also live in Takoma Park. Happy to meet up sometime and compare riding notes, maybe at the FS Happy Hour next week. If you commute into DC, also happy to introduce you to Friday Coffee Club at Swings if you don’t know it already.

Glad you joined us, and big kudos for sticking with it and finishing the ride! It gets easier, I promise. Hope to see you on the road again

ParticipantThank all who came! We had a good mix of Freezers and civilians. 8 of us fought the wind to Brookeville Beer Farm (2 peeled off to ride their own ride). Heat, beer, and pizza restored our spirits and we enjoyed a tailwind most of the way home. I ended up with 54 miles and think I will sleep well tonight!
Next weekend looks like a repeat of this Saturday: warmish but wettish. I will pick the day that looks the driest, but you may want to break out the fenders. Watch this space and the ride calendar for date and destination.

Great! See you there around 10:20ish. Not sure if we will hit the trifecta tomorrow, but it is a goal.

ParticipantYes, I plan to do a variation of this ride every weekend (other than MLK Weekend), weather and schedule permitting. I will likely switch between Saturday and Sunday based on weather and other obligations. Sorry you can’t make it this week, but hopefully you can another time.
