A St. Patrick’s Donughneuring entry a day early, a green frosted jelly Berliner from the base commissary in Wiesbaden, from a local German baker. Nothing special, and it was wild berry filling.

Oh My! Doesn’t that look yummy? e

Absolutely for Points per Mile!

The Most Viewed Team Thread prize is just bragging rights so nothing to award.

The MOST POPULAR THREAD, Most-Posted to Thread, and The Thread That NEVER Fell Off PAGE 1 is an honor that could go to only one thread = DOUGHNEURING!!

YES! Doughneuring Prizes will be awarded. This is a No-Doughneur-Left-Behind kind of Pointless Prize.

There will be several TOP prizes awarded, and they are cool!

There are prizes for my in-contest challenges (Patriotic, Savory, BACON, Groundhog Day, Mardi Gras, etc.)

There will be a Sorriest Doughnut prize, I am so sorry to say.

Do not forget the St. Patrick’s Day Doughnut Challenge now in play!!

Get all your entries posted by Monday, March 20th please.

You know the drill by now: bike around to seek out an Irish-heritage themed doughnut. Take a photo and enjoy it, tell me how you liked it.

We rode, we ate, we conquered!

What a wild success! Thanks to everyone who turned out for my ride, for some or all of it, or even just for a beer at the end! I am thrilled we braved the wind and cold in the sunshine.

I may have to plan another ride after Freezing Saddles ends…

Post your doughnuts. Kate

Here is what you need to know!

The Second Best-Ever Doughneuring Ride is Sunday Afternoon!

Start at District Donuts, 749 8th Street SE. Ride roll-out target time is 1:00 o’clock

Stop 2: Bayou Bakery, 901 Pennsylvania Ave. SE for beignets 3/$3, sharing is good. Only half a mile from District Doughnut, arrival about 1:15

Pedal over to HAINS POINT for one lap only. Possible group arrival about 1:45 or 2:00.

Head up the river, cross over to Virginia, hit the Custis Trail and burn calories as we chug uphill to
Duck Donuts!! 2511 N. Harrison, Arlington. Arrival in the 2:50 – 3:15 range. Yum!

Then we will eat and rest a bit before heading back DOWN the Custiss, across Key Bridge, quick ride through Georgetown to Beard Papa for Japanese cream puff doughnuts. 1332 Wisconsin Ave NW. Arrival? Who knows, 4:00ish?

The final stop is just over in SHAW, 624 T Street NW, at Right Proper Brewpup for beer and doughnuts. We will get there when we get there. This will end the Second Best-Ever Doughneuring Ride.

Total mileage is 23.5 miles.

An optional post-ride stop with your leader is Denizen’s in Silver Spring, for more beer and churro doughnuts.

I will send out ride updates to everyone on the Doughneuring Ride call group as we move around towns. Private message me if you want to be added, I have you if you already did this. Test message tonight at 9:15.

Do Not Forget to Set Your Clocks AHEAD tonight!!!

Any questions??

Thanks for sounding off!

We will have a better day because it won’t be windy tomorrow!
Dress warmly, though.

Start Time: 1:00 Daylight Savings Time at 8th Street SE District Doughnuts.

I will post route changes later, but essentially I am cutting out the scary bit after Duck Donuts going out to Chain Bridge and back on the C&O and CCT. We will retrace the Custis and cross Key Bridge into Georgetown. After Beard Papa, we Will get to Right Proper. I will post a time estimate tonight, and am accepting phone numbers so I can blast out ride progress reports as we go.

Millie, Rod, Brett, we can talk about a ride to start together…

See all of my wonderful Doughneur Fallowers Tomorrow!! Kate

Noting ZERO Virginia riders have committed to do this ride, I plan to change the route, start later, and favor DC, and I plan to shorten the route somewhat.

Speak up now if you have been holding out your commitment.
Changes are in the offing.

What happened to all that Pro-Doughnut Spirit??

The Weather Service is backing away from the Snow word for Saturday and Sunday.

It now looks like Sunday will have a lovely, mostly sunny afternoon with a nice temp of about 35* –finally some real winter riding weather after all this too-warmness.

So, reconsider your weekend plans in light of the Non-Snow event, and RSVP if you can join all or part of this Ride edelweiss

Some of you will be familiar with this, but for the rookies, each person gets to design their own doughnuts at Duck Donuts.
If you look at the form–probably best not to try this on a tiny phone screen–you see their Customer favorites, after that it is like pizza, the doughnut is the base, and you choose coating (frosting or glaze), toppings (sprinkled things), and finally even extra drizzles of sauce.

We can mull it over while we are riding there, in the snow. e

You do not want to miss this one! The last Doughneuring Ride of FS2017! Only 25 miles!!

Spoiler Alert: we will finish at a Beerneuring pub for Beer with Doughnuts!!

Keep eating doughnuts, edelweiss
