The Ride has been posted to the Forum Calendar!

THIS Saturday, weather prediction is looking great! Noon start on Hains Point,
meandering through the city, over the River and back to satisfy our doughnut
    cravings.

Lots of time to let everyone know you are coming!! Plenty of room on the ride
    for you to join in!

    Doughneurers!

The starting point for the Doughneuring Ride on June 3rd, 2017, will be the Freezing Saddles Picnic Area on Hains Point, also known as the Picnic Area near the point, meeting at 12:00 Noon.
One announcements: this ride is intended for Doughneurers and people from Freezing Saddles who actually know me. It is not a revival of the old DC Donut Ride of a few years back. Therefore, I am capping the participation at 25 riders. We want to have fun again, not ambush the unsuspecting doughnut shops around DC. Please respond to this thread or send me a notification (instructions above) as an RSVP.
I am delighted to be able to share FIVE new doughnut venues with you on this ride, and we will revisit a few old favorites, too. Moreover, after valiant Doughneuring in the winter, and sadly winning the Sorriest Doughnut Prize, Mary has seen the light and is newly appreciative of high-end crafted doughnuts. She has generously volunteered to drive out to B Doughnuts in Leesburg earlier on Saturday to procure a wide selection of these delectable delights for us to enjoy at the Hains Point start!
Please visit the B Doughnuts website so you can tantalize your taste buds and begin to dream about these delicious delights: http://www.bdoughnut.com/. Monetary Donations will be welcomed.
I am keeping the exact route under wraps for now, but as always, it is open to riders who want to join in at any point, or who have to cut out before the end, with an RSVP and a phone number so you receive the text updates of our location as we cruise DC.
A rough idea of the Ride is HP to DC Capitol Hill and points east first, followed by a cross town jaunt to Georgetown, then across the mighty Potomac and up to Arlington, shooting back to DC, up the newly repaved Rock Creek Trail to Smoke and Barrel in Adams Morgan. Riders heading home to Virginia or back to Hains Point can go together after the beer and sweet potato doughnuts on the patio have been enjoyed. Maryland riders can head north with me. Total HP start to finish (at Smoke and Barrel) mileage is about 25.
Just coming to the beer and doughnuts on the patio part is ok, rough, really rough, estimate is arriving there between 4 and 5 pm. It takes a while for a big pack of cyclists to get doughnuts at all the stops!
Send your RSVPs! The ride will go rain or shine. This ride is no drop. We are sure to have a epic time!
As always, Be There and Be Round! edelweiss

    Doughneurers,

I posted this Ride in the Forums’ Group Ride Topic thread.
I think we should take the discussion there, I just didn’t want any loyal Doughneurers to
miss it!! Cross-posting is too confusing.

Also note that National Doughnut Day is June 2d. Snag a free doughnut at Krispy
Kreme and/or Dunkin Donuts that day!

That’s just mean. Whee were you last weekend when I was in town (and never told anyone)?

    Sorry Consular!
I planned this ride to coincide with NATIONAL DOUGHNUT DAY! Which is June 2d.

Note that on Friday, June 2d Dunkin Donut will let you pick out one FREE DOUGHNUT if you purchase a beverage.
Going a step farther, Krispy Kreme will give you one free doughnut if you ask, no purchase necessary.

Some of the local Krispy Stores:
Alexandria 6332 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA, 22306
Capitol Heights 8703 Central Ave, Capitol Heights, MD, 20743
Manassas 9870 Liberia Ave, Manassas, VA, 20110
Rockville 14919 Shady Grove Road, Rockville, MD, 20850
Washington 1350 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC, 20036

Local Dunkins– too many to list.

Think of National Doughnut Day as a mild warm up for the Epic Ride on Saturday afternoon! e

    Doughneurers!

I am still in Washington and I will lead you on one more Epic Doughnut Ride in June!
This will be a No-Drop Fun Ride featuring some of the best doughnut purveyors in the
area. Details to come this weekend, by Tuesday, but the Ride will start at Noon or about
Noon on June 3rd somewhere fairly central and it will end when we get to Smoke and
Barrel in Adams Morgan (sweet potato doughnuts on the Happy Hour menu.)
As always, pm me with your mobile number if you want rolling updates on June 3rd so you
can join the ride already in motion. After the route is posted, RSVP to the thread so I know
who to expect on the ride. You need helmets, water, good spirits, doughnut money, and
    be ready for fun.
One NOTE to previous Doughneurers: You will have the opportunity to enjoy a delectable
confection from B Donuts, but this ride WILL NOT be going out to Leesburg.
Starting point and Route coming soon. Rain or Shine Ride.
    Edelweiss, your Doughneuring Leader!!
P.S. Amy’s Doughnuts in Colorado Springs has over 202 different doughnuts in the cases,
on the menu! Open 24/7 I will be leading a ride in Colorado Springs in July!

So sad to be hanging up my winter riding attire to dry one final time! I may have to keep my doughnut jersey and socks out for the off-season, just to keep my edge 😎

Beautiful! Last year they had cherry filling, I assume this one did as well?
Great off-season Doughneuring David, keep in practice for next Winter’s Freezing Saddles!
See you at the happy hour, e

    Anyway, here goes.

OF COURSE ITS A DOUGHNUT! I trust you enjoyed it! e

A real Freezing Saddles Crash in the snow. Here is how it went down: I started riding a few minutes before Midnight, discovered the Trail was very snow crusted, so I took the road and looped through my Friday Sleaze, stopped Strava. I restarted it to record my Saturday Sleaze, rode around, decided to try a short stretch of trail to get home When It Happened!
I rode through the innocent-looking section of slushy snow and clipped out, just in case…in case was right! The next thing I knew, I was on my side in the snow and the Surly was down! Luckily, I was unharmed, and the bike is fine. I recorded evidence, righted the Surly, walked it off a few feet, and mounted up to continue the end of the ride.
Riding after midnight has the advantage that no one ever sees you crash. Kate

    Vasaloppet Riders!

I will be leading a 31-mile group around 9:30, please say hi, I am the one with doughnuts on my helmet.

You have a chance for one more Doughneuring-qualifying pastry tomorrow at the Vasa rest stop where River Road and Falls Road intersect at Vie de France. Sometimes they have beignets, but seek out something yummy and send it in. I will see how far my tolerance can be stretched. Just don’t waste any effort submitting a bagel. edelweiss

I will be there between 7:30 & 8. Would like to roll by 8 and would very much enjoy riding with my friends, so let’s keep an eye out.

    Look for the green tags.
I am assigned to lead a group with a 31-mile ride start at about 9:15 or 9:30.
Very much hoping we are not pedaling through snow. Kate

Sure, I’m riding the 31m route.

Anybody else thinking of using studded tires? The weather forecast certainly sounds sloppy.

I am a ride leader for the 31-mile route. Anyone want to ride with me?
I will just be really slow going up from Old Angler’s to the top of MacArthur Ave…

I expect I will be declaring something at the halfway rest stop at Vie de France a Doughneuring qualifying item

I will be there, driving my car down with bike, so I can offer support when I am not riding.

I am a ride leader for the Half Metric Vasa Ride, if anyone wants to be in my group; ride out at 9:30ish.

I will be bringing some…DOUGHNUTS!! What else???

I may have some other snacky stuff, a possibility of prohibited beverages and a corkscrew.
