ParticipantDoughneurers!
Just reconfirming the End of Freezing Saddles’ Weekend Doughnut Rides on Saturday March 17th (yes, St. Partick’s Day!!) and Sunday, March 18th.
The Saturday Ride 17 March will officially begin at Proteus Bikes in College Park at 10:00. The ride will exit the Beltway to the north briefly (for doughnuts, of course!), then shoot south on the Trails to the Anacostic Riverwalk Trail to Benning Road, with the first stop in the District at Union Market, target arrival time before/around noon. [Meeting point for those not inclined to pedal out to College Park is Union Mkt]. Then we will circle around DC hitting four more doughnut shops before heading back to the Realm in the North, with a finish at (yes) yet another doughnut purveyor, Milkboy in College Park–also an option for a full menu of food and drinks. Start-to-End Mileage is 37.2. Joining en route is fine, and you can peel off as needed, as well. Timing for the stops after Union Market will be unknown, but I will do a group text message as we navigate around DC.
The stops: Proteus, Rawlin’s Bakery, Union Market, Sugar Shack on 9th NW, Krispy Kreme (Dupont Crl), Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken, DC-Doughnuts @Eastern Market, Milkboy in College Park (end).
Specifics on the Virginia Ride March 18th will be posted shortly.

You can begin RSVPing for Maryland-DC Ride now. Please specify if you plan to join at Proteus, or en-route so we can coordinate our meeting up. Message me if you want your phone number added for the Group Doughnut Texts. The long range weather forecast looks pretty good! No wind!

Since RSVPs are open: as of now, the #kidical and I are in for part of the 3/17 donut ride (she’s still jealous of the donut sticker I got last year). Most likely we’ll meet folks at Union Market and hit the DC shops.
One thing to note about B. Doughnut at Union Market – some of the flavors (especially the savory ones or speciality ones, like the Lucky Charms one it looks like they’ll have coming up) have a tendency to sell out pretty quickly on the weekend. (They seem to have gotten a bit better at expecting demand, but there’ve been a few times when I’ve gotten there around 10AM – an hour after they’ve opened – and they’re already starting to sell out of some flavors.) Given that – if there’s something that folks just have to try, it may make sense to try to coordinate a pre-order to guarantee it’ll be there when folks arrive.
Yes, Exacatly, you beat me to the punch, but I will be taking PRE-ORDERS for B Doughnut on Saturday for Union Market. AND on Sunday for their B pop-up at the Stand in Arlington. More on that a bit closer to the dates, once I start to see what the RSVPs are. Virginia-DC route should get posted today if I find another minute to do it. edelweiss

ParticipantYes. If you or anyone can find and eat a bacon vegan doughnut, I will award pointless points.
Any pseudo bacon vegan doughnut will be considered. Post your findings for all to see. eEdelweiss

Doughneurers, you may know I love the Maple Bacon Donuts! If you are a meat/pork consumer, then you probably agree that the bacony-salty-sweet bacon treats are a true delicacy.
From March 1 through March 10th, seek out and enjoy a few. They come in round with chopped bacon and The Canadian-inspired Maple Bacon Long John classic
A local favorite in Portland OR and Denver is the Voodoo Doughnut’s take on it:
Last, I have never been luck enough to find one of these bacon wrapped specialties, but they sure do look yummy! Go forth and conquer. Edelweiss

ParticipantDavid! Well done! That is one beautiful Mardi Gras doughnut! I love the donut-bagel cross over, too. You can seek one out at one of the B Donut venues for comparison. I might need to create a new category… e

ParticipantCarol, I am planning a special category for the likes of you and a few others who are the Queens and Kings of Late Night and Wee Hour Rides. Don’t use the hashtag, I know what you are doing.

ParticipantI think the hashtags are fine. They are not being scraped for inclusion on the FS leaderboard site anyway.
Keep up the Midnight Rides! EEdelweiss
ParticipantDoughneurers!
I am sure you anticipated this, but the next 2 significant holidays merit Doughnuts!
I am sure good donut seekers will find one or more doughnuts to recognize Mardi Gras and/or Valentines Day. Mardi Gras is Tuesday, February 13th, and Valentines Day is Wednesday, February 14th.
Pedal forth and find the yummiest, prettiest, or most appropriate commemorative doughnuts celebrating these holidays!
Go forth, find donuts, eat doughnuts, Enjoy!!

ParticipantI am secretly hoping that it will be held in late March, after FS ends–last year it was on the Sunday before the end of FS. This year, on Sunday, March 18th, I will be leading a Great Doughnut Ride. I don’t want a conflict of interest. How to choose between Blueberry Soup and Doughnuts??? edelweiss

ParticipantDoughneurers, Brace Yourselves.
I am posting an alternative round food challenge, for a limited time only, to foment additional interest in Doughneuring, and to help various Team Rides have broader options for ride destinations.
Yes, you guessed it, BAGELS. I will post it in a Separate Pointless Prize thread so as not to pollute our one, true Doughnut Prize postings. I admit, every once in a while you might want a bagel, or be unable to satisfy your doughnut craving and have to settle for a bagel.
So do nut be shocked when you see the new Bagelneuring Prize show up. Embrace diversity. But keep seeking out the real, best round food there is! Doughnuts!!
Many Bagels, Millenial Avacados Toasted Bagels… Vive Round! Edelweiss
