I joined here to see if there was any information on the ominous “trail detour on september 24” signs that went up north of 14th street bridge yesterday, but also happy to see this this thread. I used to take this section of Eads north daily to go to work. This parking lot has really cratered traffic on that section of Eads. Defensive riding isn’t enough. Nobody entering or leaving the lot will actually look at the bike lane or sidewalk (i’ve nearly been hit on foot as well), so if there’s any doubt, i’ll just come to a complete stop and wait for them.
Sometimes people also park crooked and hang out in the street parking on Eads, or whip into it for a minute to take a call (safer than while driving i guess). I try to be sympathetic to taxi driving being a bad job, but i’ll be happy when the airport construction is over and they can go back.
