A little bit of both. Your peer pressure had me thinking, but Leadandsteel’s response put me over the edge. Maybe I’m just trying to make myself feel better, but I figure there’s no point in putting it off. There’ll always be an excuse not to race, so I might as well do it now. I’ve been thinking about doing this race…actually I was pulled in on a “you should do it” dare, from one of my co-workers. Being that I’ve never raced period (road, mtb or cross), I’m starting to re-think my idea to race Cat 5 in this race. I was stoked to do it until I looked at a video course preview online: http://vimeo.com/54553281 . Based on that, the course looks INSANE, especially the bridge sections. What do you all think? Should I do it? Should I do my first ever race on this course that looks crazy? Or am I being a p*ssy?

haha thanks for the replies. I appreciate it. By organized, I meant something like the Crystal Rides and Reston Century types. But with it being basically November, those are probably finished. Maybe a season ending brevet is in ny future.
