Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I’ve joined all the facebook groups. I definitely spent a good portion of yesterday at various stores buying all sorts of alarms. I’ve got some insurance and it looks like some of the cost of the bike, though not all of it, will be covered. So, there’s a small silver lining there. I definitely upped my coverage after all this. Hopefully my bike will either turn up or I’ll be able to get another one once all the insurance paper work goes through.

Thanks. I suppose I need to check my facebook settings and give it another shot.

MFC, try joining again or message one of the admins. I joined this morning and one of the admins, Jack, messaged me maybe ten minutes later to verify my location. Once we talked, he let me join.

Ouch, mind if I ask how it was stolen? Cut u-lock on the street, out of your garage, etc?

Hope you find it; look at the Baltimore and Richmond area craiglists too.

It was stolen out of my house while everyone was sleeping. :(

I live in a rowhouse which faces an alley, so they snuck into our back yard and snuck into the house via a window. What’s crazy is that they had to pull the security bars off the window. It looks like they yanked it enough so that they could slip under the bars and open the window. My particular corner of 14th and Quincy street NW is pocketed between two luxury condo building construction sites and two fairly popular bars. So, everyone in my house has learned to sleep through everything. We usually keep bikes on a rack in our living room so they aren’t typically locked to the rack. Guess I’ll have to start locking my bikes up, even if they’re inside my house.
