That’s a shame. MLK parallels that route and is a nice blend of challenging hills and quieter neighborhoods. Isn’t riding on a divided highway illegal. I would have bailed on the ride right then and there.

It’s totally legal to ride there. I do it once a month or so as part of my “I’m bored and no one’s around to ride with me” loop. It’s not exactly a protected cycletrack but if you hit it mid-day the traffic is fine.

I can’t make this one but if you go I promise you’ll have a good time. My first one of these to this day is one my favorite rides I’ve done.

I haven’t tried out Fat Shorty’s, but it’s another candidate.

The food is good but I doubt they have enough space inside or out for a happy hour from the forum.

I’m quite familiar with the one in Bethesda (excellent) and that wouldn’t work at all for a bike happy hour. Too expensive, too loud inside, and no outside bar among other things. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go. You really should. It’s excellent.

You can always make a slightly small frame fit larger. You can’t make a larger frame fit smaller.

Yes and no… Yes, it’s a full carbon frame for $800. It’s on the level with bikesdirect.com though, Tommaso isn’t a bike shop brand so the original price wasn’t what you might expect. Still I’m sure it’s a good bike and if it fits it would be a great deal.

Check your mail in the next week or so. You should expect a letter advising you of the complaint registered with the Arlington County Police concerning your actions and reminding you that what you do impacts others. Having a record of aggressive driving may not benefit you if a future incident may occur.

    Thanks, and Be a PAL!

Can you post the contact information with the police that you’ve used to get this done successfully?

Kid offering to sell bike for cash to passersby. How should this be handled?

He could be trying to quickly raise cash from the sale of his own legally acquired bike (such as for his mother’s chemo treatments) or more nefarious circumstances could be at hand.

This has happened to a friend of mine several times in DC and he was wondering.

If it’s a nice bike and it’s cheap, buy it and put up a “Did I just buy your stolen bike?” ad on craigslist. Run the serial number through the relevant registries, etc, and if nothing comes up, flip it, donate it, or ride it. Always better to be in your hands than a thief’s.

Like most things in Virginia, it isn’t up to Arlington. See the Dillon Rule. And the state legislature doesn’t exactly look favorably on proposals from Arlington.

I think with carbon steerer tubes there is usually a recommendation to have 5mm of spacers above your stem anyway.

The install notes for my Easton carbon fork say to keep one spacer above the stem to ensure that the stem is fully clamped on the steerer itself… I see a lot of guys running the top cap on top of the stem though on other full-carbon forks though, so YMMV.

I’m in for some route or another. Need to order some beefier tires than Pro4s though. I don’t think 28s will fit under my brakes though so maybe Gatorskins or Maxxis Re-Fuse.

Note the pics of the rack install using the rear brake mount and the skewer. It can be done.
