ParticipantDouble posting here in case you don’t check your strava much.
To introduce myself: I am primarily a mountain biker, but winter is mostly road and gravel season for me. I can’t always ride my bike to work, but when I do, it’s a 22-mile day. I am going to try to keep above 75 mi/week, but I am going to be doing some high-mileage gravel rides this winter. Does anyone here do gravel or MTB races? I’ll be at Monster Cross.

ParticipantI’m Dane,
I hereby bequeath the powers of Team Captain upon Sir Chris Tank!
I live in Reston, but I spend half my weekends at Casey’s place in Fairlington. I try to ride dirt as much as I can. But with the freeze/thaw cycle, I will ride gravel and road. Snow is fun. If it’s below freezing I will most likely be riding MTB trails. Anybody interested in that?
I may be doing a gravel 100 mi ride 1/20. Kind of undecided at this point, but I’ll keep you posted. If you have Friday off, this would be a good way to get mega points for the team!
I will also be racing at Monster Cross, which is an awesome gravel race. 50 miles and flat-ish! Anyone else doing this?@ctankcycles 152267 wrote:
Hey guys, sorry I wasn’t able to make it to HH last night. Thanks to Dane for getting the ball rolling and taking care of team captain stuff. Dane, if you’re looking to pass the baton, I’m cool with taking it. So there ya go, I hereby nominate myself. Besides herding cats I’m willing to organize some team group rides and most importantly, happy hours. But for real tho, we won’t have much of a team without everyone getting into it. So what say you Team 9, are we ready to do this?
First off, it would be helpful if everyone introduces themselves a bit and includes where they live so we can figure out how best to coordinate for happy hours and possible rides. Me, I live in Fairlington, just up the hill from Shirlington, and try to commute downtown to work as much as possible. Longer rides on the weekends, I like gravel in Loudoun County, the Wednesday night L!G!A! ride on the towpath, and whatever looks like fun and fits my schedule.
Now your turn…

Sorry I could not make it. Was late at the office and then just rode straight home. I am Bryan and live in the Del Ray area. I have a longer commute now this year with the office having moved to Van Ness so that should help the team a bit. Anyway, I look forward to meeting everybody.

ParticipantThat’s a good idea but that is what team nine used last year! Unless last year’s team 9 captain is on this team and feels compelled to carry the torch, I say we come up with something original. The funnier the better.

It was great to meet you Dane and we don’t look sad in that picture! I’m looking forward to meeting other Team 9 members too. By way of virtual introduction, I’m Robyne. I live in Fairfax and commute to Ballston daily. I’ll play reindeer games, mostly on the weekends, and will try to get to the occasional coffee club. And I’ll probably set up a few happy hours.
And regarding our team name … may I remind everyone that Velominati’s rule 9 is AWESOMELY perfect for the freezing saddles competition. http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/
Happy and safe riding!

Only two of us showed up at HH by the way. Here’s our sad team picture so far. 😥

ParticipantI think it’s safe to say that 60 – 75% of participants will be there. Not sure how many people will RSVP on this thread, though.
But I think we should find a bigger venue. The opening HH was soooo packed.D_a_n_e
