Why do you want a folder? I borrowed a friend’s a while back to take on the Metro during rush hours only to find out even though it’s allowed, it’s still obnoxious. I’m toying with seeing if I can get away with bringing a minivelo from [URL=”http://respectcycles.com/products/respect-minivelo%5DRespect Cycles[/URL] on the train instead. It’s not a folder, so technically is against Metro rules, but I think it would actually be less cumbersome and in the way on a crowded train.

I would not plan to use it on metro very often, if at all. I do a lot of multi-mode drive and bike (I have two teenagers who go to school in DC, I work in DC, we live in VA). My main objective is to use it for the final leg of my commute from their school (where I usually park) to my office — about 5.5 miles, mostly on the MBT and 1st NE cycle track. If Capital bikeshare had a dock at Providence Hospital, I probably wouldn’t even be considering it. But I can’t fit a full size bike in the car with both boys, and I hate using a rack for commuting on 66, 395 and city streets.

That said, while I can see that it would be a pain, and definitely obnoxious on full trains, is it really any worse than all the other oversize luggage people carry? Or worse than a stroller?

This party crasher had to leave early but had a fun time reveling in BAFSers’ craziness. When leaving, I was impressed with the gaggle of fantastical bicycles locked up outside Cap City (and some folded up and taken inside).

It was nice sitting with you – thanks for coming and laughing at us. Hope you’ll be one of us next year.

Since I do not believe I ever clarified, the X in my first PP is going to be 11 which continues my trend of using my team’s identifying # as the reference point. I will note that I have no idea whatsoever who might be in the running. I do, however, reserve the right to change this in future years in an act of caprice. As with last year, I do require the winner to be an activ-ish participant, so the average must be greater than 2 (to eliminate the “I only do sleaze” rider) and they must have ridden at least 1 time in each of the three calendar months. This might be a bit more relaxed than last year’s standards, but… It’s my Pointless Prize, so I get to make the rules, right?

I enjoyed meeting many of you. I’m only sorry that I bailed early. Except, not really – it was tough getting up for work this AM.

Was there a hamster wheel competition, for the rider with the greatest number of trips of almost exactly the same length?

That’s pretty close to my offered Mr/Ms consistency. I have a few conditions, but my prize is for the lowest variance in daily ride average.

On it. I’ll bring a beverage, nonalcoholic of course, to share. I’m planning on being there until the bitter end or at least until the caravan back to Falls Church leaves!

Does water count? I should have plenty of that. I plan to be there sometime after 9 (after I finish a college seminar at school with #1 son). Any idea when that caravan back to FC might be leaving? I live a little bit further west, but I might glom on for part of the ride…

Okay — since today is the last day, I guess it is time to connect with the appropriate data capturing guru to figure out who will receive the fruits of my baking labor (I’d like to know who they are so I can coordinate with the recipient to avoid any food allergy or other issues with their ‘prize’).

I believe both of my prizes are quite simple, from a data standpoint, but I’m happy to do any calculating needed (My abacus is at the ready!)

Who should I touch base with?

I wondered how my team had suddenly climbed another rung… Now if we can just convince Vincent to leave the Octos….

***Never mind – we just fell back to our comfort spot. Even without the extra member, we’re not keeping pace.

Once. Bikenetic MTB ride back at the beginning of February. Several witnesses. Clearly I should stick to the road.
