I don’t think it’s appropriate to be discussing this before Pinky has even had a funeral. Is there going to be one? Is she going to be interred as a ghost bike?

Rumor is that several Maryland frozemon have been captured today on the Proteus group ride. Yes, frozemon fever is spreading.

Hi I’m Bryan. This is my second year doing Freezing Saddles. I live in DC and work in Laurel and usually bike commute the whole way (~20 mii. each way). Last year’s Freezing Saddles was what motivated me to attempt to do that commute everyday instead of just a couple of times a week. FS has a way of motivating me to ride a lot (200 to 300 miles a week). I have a feeling that this year will be no different. Although, I would like to spend more time this year infiltrating other team rides and participating in things like the doughnut rides. You’ll often find me riding on the ART and the CCT in addition to my regular commute to rack up miles during the week, so let me know anytime any of you want to head down the ART into DC during the week. I also sing in a barbershop quartet called the Foggy Bottom Four and the Singing Capital Chorus, so you’ll see me riding to rehearsal quite frequently. I’m excited to be on this team, and especially excited to see that we have so many musicians, maybe we should do some music themed rides together.

I like it. what time were you thinking of starting? I could meet you at Beach and Pinehurst. I average about 15-16 mph over a 50 mile course. Is that too slow for you? Would be nice to meet up with the Proteus folks at their bakery rest stop. probably takes an hour for them to get there?

This route is close to what I was planning on doing, it’s approximately a 50 mile loop.

I’d be willing to detour into Silver Spring or just meet somewhere along Sligo, if someone wanted to join me.

Sounds good. 15-16 mph is plenty fast. We could meet about 7:45 am or so. That’d give us plenty of time. By Beach and Pinehurst, I assume you mean that little parking lot along Beach just up from the DC line? Yes, could meet you there.

I’m interested. Let me know what time you are thinking of kicking things off and where it might make sense to meet up.

I don’t see anyone riding in the Antarctic. So disappointing that everyone is missing out on the real freeze points.

I’m planning on an early morning ride tomorrow, I have to be back by noon. But I wouldn’t mind meeting up with team folks somewhere for a piece of a group ride. I think I might do a big loop going up Beach, then Forest Glen, Sligo to Kemp Mill, Randolph, Fairland, then loop down through Beltsville, stop at Proteus to say hi, follow them down, then take the ART back to DC, then up the CCT and back home. That leaves plenty of meeting spots for the SS folks as well as CP folks. If we set up a facebook group, I can send out group message to coordinate.

Anyone in SS or TP up for a ride to College Park for coffee tomorrow am (Friday)? The College Park/Proteus coffee club meets at 7:45 at Board and Brew. I am flexible as to route but plan to depart SS sometime between 6:45 and 7. Will head to downtown DC after. The forecast looks to be wet and warmish. Let me know.

I’ll be headed to coffee club in the morning. If you want, I could go through Takoma Park on the way. Do you know where the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Coop is? We could meet there around 7am.
