Participant14 in binary = 1110 so we could be Team 1110. If we wanted to be French, L’Equipe Quatorze. Or Italian, Squadra Quattordici. We could also use the 14th Amendment as a basis for a team name: Brown v Board of Education, Roe v Wade, Loving v Virginia, Bush v Gore. Team Let Them Eat Cake for Marie Antionette wife of Louis XIV. Or we could use the actual French: “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche.”
If we want to follow each other on Strava, I’m Chuck Pena in Arlington, VA. If you request to follow me, I’ll approve and follow you back.
I’d be up for doing a team ride on a weekend if the weather is decent enough. Also a meet up for coffee would be fun.

FWIW – as a backup plan to a live leaderboard, it’s not a total PITA to do if you use the ride day table (http://www.freezingsaddles.com/people/ridedays), which can be cut and pasted into Excel very easily.
Thank you for your post in Data & techie stuff. I figured it out and now have an Excel spreadsheet I can use to track and update whenever I want using the Ride Day data.

It has the main ingredients, you just have to supply a little math.
You have # of days and # of miles, and you’d just have to apply the formula (10x days plus miles rounded down) to get points. Then you can divide points by rounded down miles to get the standings, then look at your tiebreakers.
Doh! Thank you!

ParticipantBrett,
Appreciate the Excel help. May be beyond my feeble skills. Also the Ride Days doesn’t have all the info I need to calculate standings (and tiebreaker). Cheers,
Chuck

ParticipantOK, trying again to post a table that is legible. God, I suck at this!

This could turn out to be an interesting competition. No one near the top of the leaderboard is in the top 20. The highest ranked person on the leaderboard is Sam W who is #168. And the current points per mile leader (Tania P) is #245 on the leaderboard. Also, Matt W who is DFL on the leaderboard is currently in third. And #1 on the Leaderboard (Bob J) is DFL!
But there’s a still a long way to go in the race to the bottom! :p And a reminder that the requirement is now a minimum of 30 ride days, not 30 rides.

Ride Day table doesn’t contain all the data I need.

OK. I’ll try that. Thanx!

ParticipantJust for grins and to give y’all an idea of how this pointless prize works, I hand jammed the data from the leaderboard (as of earlier this morning) and this is how the top 20 ends up looking.
Rank Name Points/mile Points Miles Days
1 Tania P 7.67 23 3 2
2 Michael T 6.00 108 18 9
3 Matt W 6.00 12 2 1
4 Chris J 5.29 74 14 6
5 Stephanie C 5.00 50 10 4
6 Richard B 5.00 25 5 2
7 J H 5.00 25 5 2
8 Rob C 4.91 113 23 9
9 Chris Maimone 4.60 115 25 9
10 randi f 4.33 117 27 9
11 Eric O 4.33 104 24 8
12 Ken N 4.33 65 15 5
13 Joan Bi 4.33 13 3 1
14 Laurie E 4.21 118 28 9
15 Bill C 4.00 120 30 9
16 Jeanne S 4.00 40 10 3
17 Sam W 3.90 121 31 9
18 Kristin M 3.80 95 25 7
19 Mathilde P 3.73 82 22 6
20 Jesse A 3.73 82 22 6Very different, huh? Almost like a race to the bottom. No one anywhere near the top of the leaderboard makes the cut. The highest placed person on the points leaderboard is Sam W who is sitting at #160. And the current points per mile leader is Tania P who is sitting at #245 on the points leaderboard.
It’s worth noting that not everyone in the top 20 (including the leader) is necessarily on track to ride 30 days (note that I changed the last tiebreaker to days ridden, not rides, and the requirement is now a minimum of 30 days ridden) based on ~3 rides per week (they should’ve ridden at least 3 rides by now). But’s it’s still very early with plenty of time for folks to catch up.
Also, this was a total PITA to do so I’m not doing it again.:p But hopefully we’ll be able to create an actual leaderboard. Stay tuned.

I’ll try to throw together a leaderboard for you, unless you’d prefer it be a surprise at the end.
If it’s not too much trouble, a leaderboard would be cool. Points/mile to two decimal places. If possible, to look something like this:
Name Points/mile Points Miles Days ridden
BIG THANK YOU!

ParticipantCan anyone tell me if it’s possible to import the individual leaderboard into an Excel spreadsheet so that it’s formatted into columns? That is name, points, days, and miles each in a separate column? I’m trying to figure out an easy way to calculate my Points per Mile Pointless Prize standings that doesn’t involve cutting and pasting into Word, setting up tabs, and then copying and pasting into Excel. If there’s an easy way to do this, I’d at least be able to provide updates on where people stand. If not, I guess I’ll just hand jam at the end. Thank you!

ParticipantFS vets – Please let me know if I’m OK offering up this pointless prize. Or please let me know what else I need to do. Since I’m a rookie, I really don’t know what I’m doing but wanted to provide a prize.
BTW, the wallet is actually this one:
An iPhone 5 or 6 will fit. I think a 6 Plus might fit if the phone isn’t in a case.
Looking forward to meeting folks at happy hour tonight. Cheers,
Chuck
