Who’s up for riding to coffee Sunday morning? What time is a good time for folks? I was thinking meeting for coffee at Caffe Amouri in Vienna at 0930. Earlier would be OK, but not later. Let me know what your preference is. Please invite any riding friends … BAFS or otherwise. And I can post on the BAFS calendar so others can infiltrate.

Since we’re all coming from different directions, the idea is everyone does their own ride to meet for coffee. If people want to coordinate riding together, that’s up to them to figure that out. I live in Arlington (near Fort Myer) and would be happy to meet up with anyone at a convenient location. Depending on who else wants to ride, we could do the W&OD (easy) or I have a longer (and hillier) route (which would require an earlier start to get to Vienna at 0930).

    LET’S DO THIS!

Amouri is a regular coffee club on Thursday mornings; no trouble piling bikes up and having a coffee. Don’t go to Jammin’ Java for a coffee; go there for an evening show, though.

Thanks for intel on Caffe Amouri!

Let’s try to keep the team socializing thing going. Who’s up for some sort of coffee ride next Sunday? I know most of us live in the Arlington/Falls Church area, so maybe a ride out the bike trail to Vienna? I know Jammin’ Java is in Vienna but the last time we went there for coffee it was just OK. Service was incredibly slow. But the good thing about Jammin’ Java is that we could park the bikes right out front and not have to worry about them too much because they would be within short line of sight.

Has anyone been to Caffe Amouri? https://www.caffeamouri.com On my list of coffee places to visit. Can we park bikes and keep an eye on them?

Open to other suggestions that aren’t Starbucks. And this ride would definitely be open to infiltration.

Fun ride to Duffy’s today! Thanks to all who made it. We’ll have to do it again.

Hey! We’re in second place for team sleaze rides. Only two behind Team 10. We need more sleaze!

Fellow tetradecagonians – If you haven’t already chimed in that you’re doing the ride to Duffy’s tomorrow (and if you’re inviting anyone), please do so ASAP! I need to make sure Tom has an accurate head/bike count. Thanx!

OK, gang … Here’s who I have riding as of this morning:

Me +1 (my friend Ben who is not riding BASF)
    HF +1
    Jeanne +2 (damn infiltrators!)
    Chris
    Carlos +2 (not BASF riders)

So 11 total. We have room for a few more. Anyone else???

Looks like we should have decent weather, i.e., dry and some sun. Temp will probably be in the mid-30s when we leave. 40-ish my noon.

    To reiterate the plan:

Leave from Java Shack in Arlington http://commonwealthjoe.com/pages/the-java-shack at 1030. If you want to score Coffeecatting points, get there early enough to be able to roll at 1030. I’ve mapped out a ride on Strava https://www.strava.com/routes/7396076 that’s ~17 miles from Java Shack to Duffy’s. You can download TCX or GPX file if you want to put it on your Garmin or other GPS device. Involves a lap of Hains Point that we could skip based on group consensus. Relatively easy ride. No big climbs. Bike trail and city streets. Riding “easy” with some stop-and-go in the city, we should be able to get to Duffy’s by noon-ish. Indulge in wings and your choice of beverage (just remember you have to ride back!) Not discouraging a group ride back, but I’m fine with everyone making their way back via the best route based on where they’re going. I will probably go back via U Street to Florida Avenue to P Street and then shoot down to the G’town waterfront to come back into Arlington via Memorial Bridge.

Looking forward to meeting and riding with everyone! This will be fun.

Sorry – I’m out for Saturday. My afternoon thing turned out to be a lunch (need to be in Gainesville at 11:30) thing. Another time? Happy Hour at Clare and Don’s in Falls Church one night? Coffee ride?

    Those all sound good!

I do recall seeing you there. Nice! Speaking of Hains Point, anyone going to HP100 HH tonight?

    I plan to be there.

No. I did a ride in the ‘hood and then hit the gym.

Just want to confirm Duffy’s on Saturday starting from Java Shack, it’ll be me(left) and my +1(right). Yet to decide which bike, but most likely my Fuji CX

    Look forward to seeing everyone!

Love the ugly sweater jersey! Looks like pic is at Hains Point 100. I was doing tech support for Rev at the ride.

I’m still planning to join y’all starting from Javashack. You won’t have any trouble finding me – I’ll probably in full-fred mode with my bar mitts and Christmas lights:

Rockin’ it on the holiday lights ride! BTW, that’s me (with the Santa hat) and my wife (Karen with the blue helmet) behind you in the background.

Kathleen and Jeanne – Do not want to discourage either or both of you from riding with the group. It’s a social ride, not a need for speed ride. And, honestly, I’m fine riding “slow.” I do it all the time on the Revolution Cycles Sunday rides as lanterns rouge/last wheel. If 12-14mph is do-able for y’all, no problem. However, if you’re more comfortable going on your own and meeting the rest of us (however many or few that is) at Duffy’s at noon, that’s good too. There are much shorter routes to Duffy’s if that works for you. Just let me know so we can plan accordingly. But really hope you can ride with the group.

Finally, since many of us don’t know each other (I’ve only met Kurt, Helen, and HF at the BASF2017 happy hour and Chris from a Rev ride last year) please let me know who you are (beyond your forum name) and what you’ll be riding. If you want to let me know what a comfortable riding pace is for you too, that would be good too. I’m chuxtr here but Chuck in real life and Chuck Pena on Strava. I’ll be riding a Felt FC (with flou pink handlebar tape). Not sure what kit. Will depend on the weather. But based on current long-range forecast that I know can change between now and then, most likely will be wearing my flou yellow Gore jacket.

To help y’all put a name to the rider/bike, here’s me.
