Going from South-West Centreville to Ballston. Right off route 28. Let me know about your route.
Looks like I’m going to have to shorten my route. I generally ride up 234 (Sudley) to 29 (Lee Hwy), but was going to come up Old Centreville to Braddock to Shirley Gate. However, my contract ended yesterday, and I have a conference to be presentable for tomorrow. So… unless I find a shower, I will be riding in only from West Falls Church.

Just behind you guys (ok, by ~1,600ish pts at 4,600) is us Fairfax folks. But our team is like 20 people so not too shabby.
That’s like halfway across the country!

I read something this morning on the endo site that the 20 points are for a 1 mile minimum. Sorry guys!
http://www.endomondo.com/campaign/national/prizes second bullet point. Of course, if it’s functioning properly is not guaranteed.

I just noticed that the NBC is awarding 20 pts for each day ridden, (and I’m assuming there is no 1.0 mile minimum like we had in BAFS.) Bring on the Cheese. I can’t see any reason I would not do at least 0.1 miles each day. That’s 2460 pts just for participating.

ParticipantI just started by Union Station myself, coming in from West Falls Church. I take Custis to Key Br, down M to Penn. I’ve tried the Wh H to NY to H to Mass, but I’ve come to prefer L to Mass for the cycle track.

Would we be crazy to not even have one MTB in the house? Do people do that?
Back in grad school, when I first started becoming a commuter cyclist, I rode a mtb. After road bikes flew past a few times, I knew I wanted to ride a road bike when I grew up. First I had one from the ’60’s, now from the ’80’s. The mtb made it to dirty trails once, and otherwise served me well on the jungle roads of NYC, but it gave up its spirit somewhere along the way, and I’ve never wanted one again. A cross bike however…. A recently ex-coworker rode the Kona Jake, and by all reports he was a faithful steed.

Turns out it was a pinch flat because I did a poor job when I replaced the previous inner tube (I have since then learned to take the time to fully inspect the tire for any pinches before inflating the tube).
Hmmm… maybe that’s my problem. What’s the best way to inspect? It’s so tight…

ParticipantI tend to flat in bunches. and can never figure out why. I always figure under-inflation is a factor, at least at the beginning, since I tend to inflate about once a week, and sometimes neglect that much. But then afterward, I get a couple more. and on inspection of tire and wheel, there doesn’t seem to be any issue. I can’t figure it out!

In addition to being lighter and better venting, nicer helmets tend to have great retention/size-adjustment systems that make for a comfortable fit and are easy to adjust. … And by “nicer” here, I just mean in the $60-$70 pricepoint; above that you’re looking at pretty diminishing returns.
I must disagree. I have the Superlight, and while it took my bank account down, it helped me hold my head up high, without all the sore neck muscles. If you ride far or long, I’d definitely say it’s worth the lighter weight.

ParticipantStill waiting on the results….

ParticipantAh, I just posted this to commuters a few minutes ago. I couldn’t figure out why nobody had posted on it yet! Tyvm, Liz!
