By that standard, you’d support no restrictions on bikes at any time or any place.

I’m for a bike rack on the front of the train :)

Ehh, I dunno about that. I think that classification is a tad over the top.

ugh. why on earth would they think that was better than making it flush?

The yellow traffic paint one would think would be a dead giveaway.

Well, kids, for what it’s worth, it was absolutely beautiful riding up the MVT and around Hains Point while lighting flashes lit up the cherry trees this morning.

I personally liked the ride in at 2am on the W&OD. Must have been 500 frogs on the trail between Hunter Mill and Vienna…it was like an obstacle course!

I agree. Selective stations and routes would be impossible to control or enforce.

Agreed. You have people even now confused with rules that to most seem simplistic.

Every time I think about riding in a storm I think about the day I hit Reston to see cars bobbing in the Park & Ride like ducks in a pond….

That said though, with lightning I usually duck for cover. Especially since most of my commute is on the W&OD right under all the electrical towers. I’m not sure if they’d ultimately protect or increase the chances of a strike, but I’ll opt not to press my luck.

The problem is that vBulletin only allows for there to be one hyperlink for the “image” in that space. When the forum was just BikeArlington run, we did link it to the BA site. When we joined with the other two organizations, we had to create one image that had all three logos in it and couldn’t add three hyperlinks.

Anyone have any suggestions for getting around that?

Create it as a mapped image

Dunno where you are, but I’ve got way more scars from Ortho’s than I care to admit. (both shoulders, one knee full reconstruct) Went through a couple of quacks to find an ace one, and I’d drive across the country for this guy. Hopkins trained knee and shoulder specialist.

Guys name is Stephen Brown. He’s a flipping god. To give you an idea, I drive 150 miles to see him…

It’s not so much motivation for me as a routine. I’m old. I like my routines :)

I agree with SpokeGrenade on this. It’s quite possible station managers in outlying stations see few people during the tail end of the restricted hours and thus let cyclists on.

I think it also has to be kept in mind that you simply have to be inside the turnstiles by 4p, it can take some time to traverse the metro system from its far flung corners and it’s quite possible to be coming out easily an hour or so later. While I can understand the frustration of seeing another cyclist leaving the system while you’re waiting to get on, it’s entirely possible that they did so well within its existing restrictions.

Orange Line train at 5:30 with a bike? I’d rather crawl on bloodied knees :)

Sportwash, or some vinegar in the washwater. It’s just like sweaty poly sports clothing, it’s bacterial in nature causing the funk.

I’ve seen flatbed trailers getting towed around downtown by some of the bike messengers that appear to be 8 foot or so long and look perfect for a kayak.

Didn’t look to be too complicated, I’m sure with a little ingenuity and perhaps a kid trailer for parts?

The ride from Cumberland up to the continental divide was not nearly as daunting as you might have heard. It is simply a steady climb up for many miles, but not at all hard, plus there are plenty of places to stop along the way to take in the view.

Agreed, it’s not a hard climb by any measure of the word. I’d classify it more as “annoying” since it’s basically just a 2% slog for a couple of hours.

Running it west to east though there’s roughly 60 miles of 1% climb from about Confluence to the Continental Divide, honestly not sure which is more annoying
