ParticipantCan’t do it… While I’d LOVE to meet a bunch of the folks here I’m in the office now and hanging around town to 6pm makes for a *really* long day.

ParticipantI’m surprised no one’s mentioned Carolina Brother’s baked beans….
But acc, you’re tops in my book. Anyone that’ll ride Vienna to Ashburn for Carolina Brothers makes the tops on my list!

Interesting in that they look like they’re using Tasers. Not fun.

Digging a little more, looks like the kids with the Taser were caught the next day.

Wow . . . didn’t think we’d have to worry about snow again so soon.
Hey, been a few days already where the idiot factor on the trails has made me wish for cold weather again. At least then when you run into another cyclist on the trail you know they probably have some sort of a clue.

ParticipantOk.. I’m blind. What day/time is this?

ParticipantYou laugh.. I’m so going to build a Salsa Mukluk for this winter!

Participant14th Street south to Constitution, down the mall to Henry Bacon, around the Lincoln Memorial to the Memorial Bridge, to the MVT trail north to Custis Trail to the W&OD. That will bring you onto the W&OD at the 4mi marker.
Easier to plug start and destination into Google maps and choose the bike routing, it’s pretty dead on.

ParticipantI think you need to rush out and buy a Surly Pugsly.

Every time I’ve ever had a problem with iffy behavior it’s been on a weekend and generally not from the guys in the matching outfits 😮
*sniff* I guess I’m going to have to mix my clothing so it doesn’t match so that I don’t get lumped in with the others. After all that time spent getting matching stockings and high heels for my kits too….
LOL. Seriously, I know exactly what you mean. Seems like the testosterone fueled stupidity runs high on the weekends.

Nice ride! That is an awesome stretch.
The awesome stretch was the last 22 miles (downhill) from Big Savage to Cumberland
I think my wife did learn one thing though. I never seem to be able to get her to start a trip before 11am. That unfortunately meant we made it to the halfway point @ Ohiopyle well beyond dark thirty on Saturday. Let me tell ya, that trail is DARK at night. Fortunately I had chucked both my Dinottes in my bag before we left or it would have been a quite interesting ride…

1/8 has a point. I”ll bet that the majority of the people on this forum do abide by the rules. I’ll bet the majority of the “buzzers” do not participate in any cycling forum, member or not.
.I’ll cop to not always doing it. If I can pass with a wide margin, and it’s something like a lone jogger with earbuds obviously in I frequently don’t bother. Mom with a kid? I’ll slow long behind and announce. It’s more about the specifics of the pass, but I can admit that I don’t always call it out. I’ll NEVER buzz someone close.
I can’t buy into a lot of the behavior I see out there… most recent that comes to mind was a cyclist spitting on a guys hood that was partially in the crosswalk at Wiele & W&OD, nor will I open up on speed in areas like Vienna or Herndon, but I will cop to not *always* abiding by calling out passes nor stopping at all stop lights/signs.
