The annual Tour de Cookie is coming up on May 5 in Rockville, MD.
It features three distance options (12, 27, or 43 miles) and lots of pit stops featuring cookies. As a charity ride, proceeds go to support Treehouse, a child trauma healing org.Cookies are highly relevant to my interests, and I’ve wanted to do this for a long time. This year I’d like to take the plunge and go for it. I plan on signing up for the 43 miler. Is anyone else interested in going? It looks like a fun one for a group.
I’ve been wanting to do this too…and I don’t have a softball tournament with my daughter…so I’m a go!

Final (Post-March) Update!
Hi everyone! I arrived home on my bike this past Friday to find my kids ringing bells and cheering the completion of my Thousand Mile March. I am grateful for the support that everyone – friends, family, neighbors. and fellow cyclists – have given to this cause, and for the difference we have made in the campaign against gun violence.
I completed exactly 1,000 miles over 49 rides during the month of March, with an average starting temperature of 39 degrees and a total ride time of 61 hours and 23 minutes.
In terms of our fundraising goal, we have raised $4,750 of our $5,000 target. I KNOW there are some folks out there who may have doubted that I’d ride the entire distance. If that’s you — maybe you thought the WIND, the COLD, or the RAIN AND SNOW would deter me — this is your last chance to be the hero that helps us get across the finish line. I will close the fundraiser and make our final donation this week, so please help us reach our goal. I did it (and so did the marchers!), and your help will keep this momentum going.
To everyone else, spring is coming! I am sure of it. And I for one am ready for some warmer and less windy months…
Sincerely,
AdamWell done! Congrats!

When I went car-free, I had to adjust my shopping schedule, as one person described it, to a more European version. Two or three days a week, I’ll stop at the Giant across the street from where I work as I head home, filling up my two panniers. One reason I use Giant is they have the handheld UPC scanners, so I can scan items and fit them into my panniers as I shop. I don’t have to worry about getting to the checkout and finding that I can’t quite fit everything I bought into my bags.
YES! I use the UPC and bring my bike into the store filling my panniers and rolling back out! Very cool!

I went car free this morning. It’s the first time in 22 years that I haven’t owned a car. I decided to donate my car to WABA, which I looked into after Jeanne told me that she donated her car to WAMU.
Here’s the tow truck taking her away:

ParticipantDelusions of points (2of2)
I did get a dog to pose next to the Phoenix Ball
And wore 3 pins for extra good measure replacing one because the paper said it would gain me 20 points and 10 for wearing them at all!
Humbly submitted…
