Hello all. My name is Cathy and I live in Fairfax, somewhat near the Fairfax Wegmans. Unlike many, I have lived in Fairfax County most of my life. I work part-time as an RN in Fredericksburg (long story) hence I do not bike commute. When my children were young I used to take them for rides on the W&OD. Other than those occasional excursions I did not do much biking until 3 years ago when I went on a ride on the Great Allegheny Passage. After that, I was hooked — it was such a beautiful and refreshing ride. This is my 3rd season with Freezing Saddles. I like FS as it gives me incentive to ride during the winter when I would not otherwise ride and I have met so many great people who love to ride. Except on my work days (I do 12+ hour shifts at a hospital) I am generally pretty flexible on ride times. I occasionally get out and ride with Babes on Bikes (B-o-B) during the week {I met them through FS} and Washington Women Outdoors (WWO) on the weekends. My husband and I have also done some bike touring including Bike Virginia, Bike the Erie Canal and the Great Waterfront Trail (Canada). I look forward to meeting and riding with everyone.

Might have to take you up on this for my GF, especially if they have beginner friendly rides.

She can look up Babes on Bikes and find the link to request to join the group. There are all different ride levels. I met people in Babes on Bikes by doing 2016 Freezing Saddles. They do a variety of different rides – most on trails but some on the road. The person that posts the ride will indicate when and where to meet, the distance and destination and the anticipated pace. I usually meet up with the Burke group at South Run Rec Center or Burke Lake Park. The Arlington group meets at a number of different places including Vienna, Bluemont, Rosslyn, and Shirlington.

Hi all. I am Cathy and I live in Fairfax. Sorry I couldn’t get in for the HH. As far as names go, I like both deceminator and tenacious. I work in Fredericksburg so I obviously do not bike commute. Something about doing a 12+ hour shift and a century ride on the same day doesn’t seem to work. When I am not working I like to get out and ride during the week with the Arlington Babes and the Burke Babes (Babes on Bikes). If any of you ladies are interested (sorry guys) I can help you hook up with the group. They post last minute rides on an email list. I would like to do some group rides on the weekends and can meet up most anywhere.

Hey Salty Dogs – any interest in a happy hour or meet up this weekend? Friday or Saturday evening? I was thinking Clare and Don’s in Falls Church might be a good location for our bunch.

I am interested. Friday is not good for me. Saturday should work for me depending upon the planned time as I have an afternoon commitment.

Hello Team 14, this is Cathy, also from Fairfax. Freezing Saddles is new to me but I am excited about the extra motivation to ride in the winter. I am looking forwarding to meeting everyone on the team. Sorry I could not make it to HH on Thursday but working 12 hour shifts in Fredericksburg make it difficult to get out on certain days.

Salty Dogs and a bull dog mascot are fine with me.
