oh no. i was planning on using the motivation to bike every day as a way to help my plan to lose a bit of weight this winter…
BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!
Cycling is the worst way to lose weight ever. You pretty quickly find all the best ice cream, pastry, sandwich, and beer places, and make excuses to visit them. Lord Deliver Us from Cross Street Market, but no further than the Light Street Cafe.

ParticipantYou know what goes well with donuts?
Coffee.
Lots of really lousy black coffee that somehow magically becomes perfect and wonderful when there’s a donut.
Just a thought.

This is going to end very, very badly for the folks at the local pool. Lost Rhino BikenetiCX prize boardshorts + obnoxious knee-high socks + pasty cyclist complexion = “sir, we’re going to have to ask you to leave, you constitute a public nuisance. Yes, really. Yes, we know he wore a leopard print thong in public, but he was special. No, it’s too weird. Go away.”

HP Laps get you somewhere.
HP Laps get you as close to Enlightenment as possible without moving into a Buddhist Monastery.
If by “Enlightenment” you mean that very particular feeling of “WHY???? WHY AM I STILL HERE???? WHAT’S THE POINT? OMG, I’ve started counting manholes out of boredom. IHTFP! Get Me Out Of Here!” then yes, I’m in agreement.

ParticipantI think you may not have counted on Team Exile here…
May actually go swimming during the ride. If it’s 80something, may as well.

ParticipantI’m sure you would, but under the Harley Rules (1942), we have to start at Blackfriars, as Marleybone starts in spoon until turn 3, unless Mansion House is put into dihock during that round. Surely you have your supplement handy if you’re going to play . . .

Wait what? After not doing coffeeneuring last year, trying beerneuring, finding out that after a huge effort some nerfers still passed me and won that, and me deciding to pass on beerneuring this year and try coffeeneuring instead, this? No MorningtonCrescent worthy rules? No complexity? No Starbucks shaming? Sigh.
Oh you fools. You really think the rules have changed?
No no. Rules are the same. Expanded, even.
I’m just not telling you what they are.

Atlas is great. Highly recommended. And there’s a distillery open for tastings on Saturdays like two doors down.
Wait. Are you talking about the distillery right above them, the distillery up the hill, or the distillery around the corner?
It’s not entirely clear.

Participant“Beautiful large space with lots of character” may be the kindest description I’ve ever heard of Ye Olde Brickskeller. I’ll be sure to order four beers at my local watering hole, only getting one, to share in the experience.
And ye, FS is truly international now. There’s what, the UK, Ukrane, Peru, and the Republic of Texas?

ParticipantIf we’re talking suburbia, northern PG County/ATHAland (Brentwood/Hyattsville/College Park) is pretty awesome. Direct, off-street connection into DC via the Anacostia trail, a couple good shortcuts and side ways through Brookland to connect with the Met Branch if you prefer that way, and a quick ride up the trails to the BARC and you’re in bike-friendly farmland.
In DC? I always thought Brookland/Woodridge was pretty underrated and bike-friendly—other than the Washington Hospital Center drag race and Cloverleaf of Doom to the west. Seven minutes on the Met Branch and you’re at the Capitol. Hard to beat that.

ParticipantHere you go. This year’s Off-Season Coffeeneuring PP Rule Sheet, in its entirety:
Ride bikes.
Drink Coffee
Get awesome.Prize might be tea-related. We’ll see.

ParticipantYay, Team Exile! Maybe somewhere between IEV, MSO, and ATX there might be a halfway normal “winter”…
…because right now, our lows are your highs.

ParticipantSo, last year we did put up signs. I remember standing out on the Paint Branch Trail in the dead of night the day before coming home from work, bike light in my mouth as I fumbled with duct tape and a packet of signs that stuck together.
When I came through the next morning, about half of them had blown down. I vaguely remember there being a windstorm or suchlike during the night? I had to do some chasing after the ride to track them all down. Other sections that I knew from our instructions would be signed were entirely unsigned—again, wind.
Glad to hear things otherwise went well, and sad to have to miss this one.
