A great showing at the Proteus Bicycles ride down to the MLK Jr Memorial today. I’m not certain what category this ride falls under, but fairly certain the retirements are met.

This is Shortcake Bakery. Delicious pastry ride this morning with reps from Teams 4, 6, 7, 21 and whatever team Caroline is on

Six, Jeff. Caroline is on team 6 :p

There will be a ride leading from Proteus to the MLK Memorial tomorrow. Here are the event details.

    https://www.facebook.com/events/3222…tive_tab=about

Leaving from Proteus at 10am PST (Proteus Standard Time – a joke that means we will leave 5-10mins after the hour to allow for stragglers to arrive). Heading down the ART trail system to Maine Ave, cut over to Hains Point and up Ohio. Return trip will be along the same route. I plan to stop for food/drinks somewhere in that area, maybe Navy Yards – a chance to warm up. Temperatures are going to be cold, so dress appropriately and consider a change of clothes for food stop.

So it turns out there is a holiday this weekend. A holiday for a great man who advanced the idea of equality and diversity in this country. So in honor of him, I’m going to lead a ride from Proteus Bikes to the MLK Jr Memorial on Monday. We’ll head down the ART to the memorial, and we could choose to add some Hains Point laps if we want to. I’ll firm up details and post info here.

This route is close to what I was planning on doing, it’s approximately a 50 mile loop.

I’d be willing to detour into Silver Spring or just meet somewhere along Sligo, if someone wanted to join me.

Too many miles. You should just stay home instead.

Most excellent! We’re up to 9 of 11 riders joined to the Strava team. It looks to me like we are only missing lbds137 (whom we got to meet at the opening Happy Hour :D ) and tfaucet. I’m looking forward to riding with you all!

Yup, it’s March 21, the day after the contest ends. You can always cancel your out-of-town trip. :-)

Or he can bike back from destination. I give him permission, since he’s on my team ;)

I’ve made everyone an admin on the Strava club so you can upload pictures, kick off non-Freezing Saddles interlopers, change the team name etc. Last year the team name changes got a little out of hand (the dreaded Podium! team 7) but we’ll see.

Perhaps you should remove yourself from being an admin so that your wife can’t steal your phone and change the team name again (and again, and again…)

I might have to get out to join you for some of your hills rides, Alan! It’ll be in better weather with less salt on the road so I can take out my light road bike. I’ll still get dropped on the hills though cause I need to lose some weight.

During the summer, I have lead road rides for Proteus up from College Park out to Columbia and Bowie and everywhere in between, so I’m fairly familiar with the roads in this area. There is some fantastic trail riding in the area with the Anacostia Trail System for those looking for a relaxing ride, nice quiet roads with average rolling hills for those who like quick roads, and parks like fairlands for those who like MTB roads.

Oh! And if you like beer, I’m thinking about leading a brewery tour early-mid February, which will include 3 Stars, Right Proper, Atlas Brew works and probably end at Franklin’s in Hyattsville. I’ll post details to this thread when that is finalized.

Additionally, there is a freezing saddles calendar that has all freezing saddles related events posted to. Check it out and feel free to “infiltrate” other teams events!!

Anyone in SS or TP up for a ride to College Park for coffee tomorrow am (Friday)? The College Park/Proteus coffee club meets at 7:45 at Board and Brew. I am flexible as to route but plan to depart SS sometime between 6:45 and 7. Will head to downtown DC after. The forecast looks to be wet and warmish. Let me know.

Looking forward to seeing some team 6 folks at College Park Coffee Club tomorrow. Feel free to drive though, it’s going to be pretty rainy. Parking is readily available.

Hey everyone, I’m Brett. I met most of you at last night’s Happy Hour, so that was awesome! I live in the Beltsville area, and commute in the opposite direction of DC, so you won’t see me too often during weekdays. I do like to get out on weekends as well, and it’s a common sight to see me joining rides leading out of Proteus Bicycles on Route 1 in College Park. Feel free to stop in tomorrow at the College Park Friday Coffee Club at the Board and Brew around 8am.

Also, it looks like Teams 5 and 6 are also in close proximity to us, and because they are full of awesome people (not as awesome as us, mind you), I hear they wouldn’t mind having more tag along for rides!
