ParticipantWho is responsible for those restrictions? I work in a Vornado owned building in Crystal City, with even smaller elevators, and they don’t have any restrictions.
Also, the tenant rules and procedures guide actually says “No bicycles…of any kind shall be brought into or kept in or about a tenant’s premises or in the Building.” (http://www.1000wilsonblvd.info/pdf/GeneralRulesandRegulations.pdf). After a quick google, it looks like this same restriction is found on other Monday-owned buildings in the area.

This map shows parcel boundaries. It looks like this was a lot on a street that was obliterated by I-66, perhaps with a house on it. Now the street is gone.

Lots of strange little things you learn from this map.
Thanks to you, I’ve just wasted an hour at work exploring Arlington via property maps.

ParticipantI actually got some pretty decent air going over it on my road bike.
I saw a jump and my instincts kicked in.

I have a set of Smith glasses with interchangeable lenses. They’ve lasted me two years of bike commuting. I use clear & yellow lenses in the winter, brown in the spring/fall and polorized superdark in the summer. They’re one of my only high-tech non-retrogrouchy pieces of gear.
My Smith glasses are fantastic. I’ve probably had mine close to 7 years, and I usually get new lenses every couple of years when they get too scratched up. I use the superdark polarized most of the time, but the clear lenses are a god send at night, and the brown lenses work wonders when I’m mountain biking through heavy tree cover.

Public service announcement – if you live in an area with crowded on-street parking please take the rack off the hitch when you’re not using it. There’s one on my block that has a Tahoe with a huge hitch rack and drives me insane. I’ve left notes on the car asking him to remove it nicely and it’s still there. I never actually see the guy so I haven’t had a chance to talk with him yet…
This does annoy the piss out of me. I have a Honda Fit, and when I leave the rack on, my car is still shorter than most (and I don’t usually park on the street), but if you’re driving something that big, you need to be courteous.

+1 Thule
double +1. I have the Helium (http://www.thule.com/en-US/US/Products/Bike-Carriers/Hitch/971XT-Helium), and I leave it on all the time. Keeps people from bumping my car when I’m parked on the street.
It also flips out of the way to access the hatch (I have a Honda Fit).

Participant… knows their bike’s birthday?

ParticipantYou snapped a pretty cool one of me coming down the hill from the memorial (http://quovadimusmedia.com/CrystalRide2012/index_3.html?autoload=IMG_0429)! It looks pretty good as my Facebook banner

ParticipantI’ll be there to help!
I know it’d be preferable to get the table and stuff down there by bike, but if necessary, I’d be more than happy to help move stuff by car…I have plenty of room for a table or two and a couple of bikes…

ParticipantI’m so there!

ParticipantMy first thought was Rain-X as well. Make sure you let us know the results of the trials.

ParticipantIt was a link to a coupon that Revolution Cycles gives after completing an online survey. I’ve gotten them after having service done there.
The poster put something about how he wanted to screw over Revolution, so people should print out dozens of the coupon and keep using them until they expire in November.

ParticipantI flagged the post on Craigslist. jsnyd also works at the Clarendon store.
