It can be windy, too. If you’re comfortable in a pace line, Seagull is a breeze!
Pun intended.

ParticipantWhy doesn’t WMATA (and others…my apartment complex is really bad about letting us know about “scheduled maintenance”) post notices that might affect people’s plans earlier? This notice is dated today. Do they not make these decisions until late?

ParticipantI love riding up near OC.
Biking is only allowed on the boardwalk in the morning (I think before 11 am), and while it’s not terrible, it’s pretty crowded on the summer weekends.
The city can be great for riding around, and if you want to go faster, there are lots of good country roads just across the bridge on the mainland.
It’s also not that far to ride to Assateague, which is a great ride.

I remember reading somewhere that Eggbeater pedals might be more likely to cause hot spots for some people. I’ve never used Eggbeaters myself, so I don’t know how accurate this is. But I’ve heard about it a few times.
As someone who has ridden with Eggbeaters for years, this is very true. Stiff soled shoes help a lot.
I still like them because of the 4-sided entry and the main spring of the 3 series matches the blue accent color on my road bike.

ParticipantAs Dickie says, it could be a nerve pinch in the area, I’d try jopamora’s suggestion and move your cleats slightly to move the pressure off the nerve. Also shoes: I used to have this problem until I got shoes with a stiffer sole.

ParticipantI don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture of Dirt not taken at some weird angle.

ParticipantI’ve got a Thule Helium. Holds 3 bikes, is pretty lightweight, locks to the hitch, and includes a built in cable lock.
However, the rubber straps seem to wear pretty badly, I had to replace them after a year.

ParticipantDirt doesn’t complain about suffering, suffering complains about Dirt.
