Participant2/5/22 this was crazy. Okay, so some would say that biking in a snowstorm is nuts. Others have told me I am crazy for riding when it’s in the teens. Yesterday I was so excited to be riding in the rain, until…I hydroplaned on the TR Island wooden bridge.
Down I went and harder than on all of my too-many-falls over the past few years. Bottom line: hip and elbow in less pain than the shoulder, which I now have in a homemade sling.
After I spent the night with Ibuprofen and an entire bottle of champainless, I thought the shoulder was better. This morning was a different story.. spent the whole day in my PJs on the couch until I felt as if rigamortis was setting in. I was sad that I was letting my team down, so…
My husband helped me put on a coat and get my bike out of the garage. It rolled with me which seemed like a good idea at first, but I think I went too far. I got blisters since I didn’t bother to put on socks. I got some crazy lady stares, but I got in my mile.

Participant2/5/22 Nostradamus- looks like serdar and I read the same Wikipedia article. Yes, Nostradamus was purportedly an apothecary before a psychic. His first wife and two children died in the plague. He developed a rose pill to treat the plague. It would be good if he could treat the current pandemic.

Participant2/4/22 Groundhog Day-so, my understanding of GH day is that you live the same day over again…I could’ve skipped reliving a fall! No pictures–these bruises have to be censored

Participant2/3/22 LFL happened upon on Delaware St in front of Jamestown ES. It had a random collection: adult puzzle books, adult lit, and a few you g children’s books.

Participant2/3/22 Presidents’ Day initially celebrated “the Father of our Nation” George Washington who was born 2/22/1732. But then Lincoln (b. 2/12/1809) was added and it moved to the third Monday of Feb. Well, today is neither man’s bday and it isn’t the third Monday, but…initially George served the Queen of England (well not his distant relative Elizabeth) Queen Charlotte (this game makes me learn a little here and there)
That’s the Queen on a car window on N Edison near Yorktown HS. Was going to get dark about Jamestown and Founding Fathers perpetuating slavery etc with a photo of Jamestown ES, but decided to keep it lighter. Happy Presidents Day 2/21/22Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Know how they say don’t bring a knife to a gun fight? I brought a foldie on our family ski trip taking up half the back of our station wagon stuffed with four people, ski gear, and winterwear. There were near white-out conditions today. It was too slippery to bike anywhere, and so I walked pushing the foldie in circles in the snowy parking lot for 2 miles, wearing a ski helmet and goggles for fear of falling on my head while… walking. But 29 points for Team 3 Sled Zeppelin!

I obviously have the wrong idea about the scoring. How do I get 29 points for two miles?

Participant2/22/22 favorite free library so far! Not an LFL but shaped like a MUSHROOM complete with stained glass windows and firefly lights and books for all ages. Corner of Washington Blvd and N Evergreen St. (Really resent the development there that killed so many trees but this library is a sweet outcome). I took three pics to share the fun details.

Participant2/2/22 Groundhog Day I am a numbers gal and love fun strings of numbers. Looked long and hard for 2222 but found 222 which is cool because Groundhog Day keeps repeating. So, 222 as a palindrome is 222 so like Groundhog Day, it keeps repeating over and over again. Taken on tonight’s ride which currently will not upload from my Garmin.

Participant2/1/22 Lunar New Year -this morning at 6am, it was so dark I think I saw “the monster, called Nian (Chinese for “year”)” Nian was a flesh-eating beast who comes out and feasts on humans. According to google, Nian was afraid of bright lights, loud noises and the color red. On my evening commute I saw red lights in a tree to ward off Nian.
