I had the Roots pho, and loaded it up with toppings. It was delicious, but didn’t destroy my sinuses the way I was hoping it would. The tofu fries were great too! Deep fried anything probably is. I’ve spotted schvin here before, so I know it’s legit (and I’ve been a couple times before too). I just want to know if they still do the pho challenge. If so, who wants to ride a fasted century with me and then stop by?Looks delicious. I may consider awarding extra points if anyone does the pho challenge!

ParticipantChocolateuring #2: Fleurir Chocolates in Alexandria
From my failed attempt earlier I found out about this place. Not really any bike racks around but lots of street signs to lock to. The designs are pretty and many of them have a floral pattern. Got a few to try. Particularly liked the Cardamon and the Grand Marnier.

ParticipantBeerneuring #3: Aslin in Alexandria
Been meaning to check out this place for a while. Much more airy than the location in Herndon. The bartender said they Brew everything here. Got the Double Orange Starfish (a Double IPA) and Gose with Blackberries and Raspberries. They were both refreshing and with the warm weather it felt like summer!

ParticipantChocolateuring #1: Chesapeake Chocolates in Reston
Easy to bike to and there are some bike racks by the parking lot entrance. They are also conveniently located next to Lake Anna Brew House because chocolate goes well with beer! I don’t associate the Chesapeake as far west as Reston but they are by Lake Anna so it’s sort of like being by the bay. And they have some sea themed chocolate including a crab and a starfish. I like that they have both a dark and a milk chocolate version for many if not all of their chocolates. They seem to do a lot of chocolate covered fruits and nuts. Got a few to try and liked the chocolate coated cherry.

Not sure if this is the Taco Hunt #1 location. They apparently used to be a food truck. Their tacos are quite big, almost like a mini burrito. Got the OG and their fried advocado. They also have some interesting sauces including a chimichurri and a Sriracha salsa. Got loco their hottest one and it was quite sweaty. They serve the food for El Techo the rooftop bar upstairs and as I was munching away I saw the wait staff bringing things up and down the stairs. Will have to come back to try their burritos.

Participant#taconeuring Oracle Cafe
Every Thursday is Taco Thursday at the Oracle cafeteria. You have to build your own tacos and I like to build mine with the crunchy tacos, rice, grilled veggies, and minced beef. In addition to building software, we build tacos!

Participant#taconeuring Bandit Tacos
This is my go to taco place. They have great fish and shrimp tacos. However since it was Taco Tuesday I got their specials for that day which consisted of adobe chicken, carne asada, and tofu for $2 each! I like that they heap on lots of spring onion and radishes.

Have been meaning to check out this place in a while. Got their pulpo (octopus) and it didn’t disappoint. The salsa was thick and flavorful although not very sweaty.

ParticipantChocolateuring attempt #1 The Chocolate House
Today was a good day to attempt some chocolateuring with the snow. The Chocolate House can be a bit hard to find since it’s below street level so it’s easy to bike by. As it’s in Adams Morgan there are quite a few bike racks around including outside the shop. The shop sells chocolate from various chocolatiers. I got a mix of 4 consisting of Coconut Nibs, Honey, Manhattan, and Fleur de Sel from I think Capitol Hill, Zoe’s in Frederick, and Artisan Confections in Arlington. Particularly liked the Coconut Nibs and Fleur de Sel. I missed the fine print that the chocolate must be made at that location plus I forgot to consume on premise but at least now I know some stores to go to!

Participant#2 Brookeville Brew Farm
Went on Eric’s ride to Brookeville Brew Farm. Who knew you could “raise” beer. Got a flight of 4. Particularly liked the “wintry mix”, a blonde ale coated with some cinnamon on the glass.

Participant#1 Lake Anne Brew House
Thought I should get something Reston themed and got the Live-Work-Play IPA, a play on Reston’s motto. It was a nice, easy to drink IPA.
