One would think tortilla national day on Feb 24 would be the same day as Margarita national day. It isn’t but still a good reason to eat more tortillas so I stopped by Harris Teeter on the way home to pick up a bag of tortilla chips. Nom nom nom!

Incredibly I could not find any pie let alone cherry pie at my Harris Teeter. I think they were doing some maintenance and packed up all the pies. Instead I settled for a lemon poppy muffin for muffin national day on Feb 20.

Chocolateuring #4: Harper Macaw
Harper Macaw recently opened up in Georgetown. It’s a nice little chocolate shop and cafe. When you walk in you can see the chocolate making equipment in the first room. I could hear some rumbling from the machine and there was a delightful smell of chocolate in the air. From what I could tell, they make chocolate bars rather than individual chocolate pieces or truffles. Tried some samples of their various dark chocolate and all were good. Particularly liked the raspberry cheesecake so picked one up to go.

In honor of Presidents’ Day I drew a couple of Presidents by bike. A young Jefferson or JFK and a not so young Trump. I think we can agree that they are all fun to draw!

In celebration of National Almond Day I got some kind of almond treat at Fresh Baguette in Georgetown. They looked like cookies but were more like a mini cake. Tres bon!

Beerneuring #9: Astro Lab
Stopped by Astro Lab. They have a large selection of IPA so thought I should try a couple of them. Tried the No Mates – Amarillo and No Mates – Taiheke. Preferred the Amarillo which was bright and zesty but the Taiheke which was more grassy was good too.

Had a Suffragette Stout. It’s supposed to be a chocolate raspberry stout with coffee notes but the coffee stood out more. Would have preferred a bit more chocolate and raspberries.
