ParticipantGW Pwky northbound near Arlington Memorial Bridge. Narrowed from 2 lanes down to 1 to make it safer for trail crossing….yeah!

ParticipantIf the rules require you to ride the 1-2mi without stopping, then Strava will tell you if the rider stopped.
On the desktop version (don’t think mobile does this), you can see both “ride time” and “total time.” If they don’t match, then there is stopped time.
I love the prize of Foghat’s song…..great idea!

ParticipantDoh! I totally missed the Stream Valley Park sign myself
Looks like it was one of the rare green/white signs that actually said “Park” in the name. My general rule of thumb was anything on the map that said “Stream Valley Park” probably wasn’t a park. Well earned! -Krisbigredboiler
ParticipantI’m new to the FS party this year, and want to thank everyone who makes this happen. I heard about it late in 2019 from some cycling friends/participants, and thought ‘why not? I ride most days’. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I’ll be back.
My thoughts:
1. Amazing website for tracking & the forums are so active (no way did I keep up and you see I’m writing a week after the end
2. So impressed with how many people rode everyday; my hats off to them, and I never would have guessed it to be so many.
3. Speaking of daily riding, I got really lucky with the weather (was it Winter?) since I wouldn’t just go out in the rain for fun (I missed 4 days for a work trip, but, amazingly, was able to ride the rest).
4. The pointless prizes are awesome and entertaining (I chuckled upon discovering the term “London Bridging”)
5. I never would have guessed I would be “park hunting” daily for two months (I got sucked in fast and needed a Google Map & XLS to keep up
6. I’m sure Lynn & I will not be on the same team next year
7. Looking forward to meeting some people in real life after the craziness simmers downHope everyone enjoyed FS as much as I did. Stay healthy and safe. Let’s hope they don’t ban outdoor cycling during the lockdown; otherwise, life is good!
See you on the road (from a socially acceptable distance for the foreseeable future!) -Kris

ParticipantCamiller, thank you for the great idea & inspiration. I didn’t stumble upon the park prize until late January, but it quickly escalated from simply noticing a park on my way home to scouring maps to find new parks and ways to reach them. Luckily, the madness is done as it really became challenging to find new parks for each ride near the end
This was definitely the most entertaining and encompassing aspect of FS for me (I had to make a Google Map & XLS to manage). Too bad we can’t meet in person to thank you, but judging by the comments here, you brought much joy to many with your idea! -Kris

ParticipantJust checking the forums since I assumed HH would be cancelled/postponed. Postponed until TBD makes sense for now.
I love Nadine’s idea of daytime park meet up also….we should do both!
Anyway, be safe out there….and wash your hands!

ParticipantAll these enthusiastic cyclists riding in the bitter cold really demoralize poor Mike.

ParticipantHi all – just finding this thread today. This is my first year doing FS; some friends who do this just introduced me to it late last year. Fun to see all the enthusiasm and side bets. As you might notice, cycling takes most of my free time, so TBD if I can make any outings. I was out of town for first HH, but maybe I’ll be able to swing a future event. -Kris

Participantankle bands make sense.
Other ideas:
1. little jingle bells (mount on bars or under saddle)…always jingling
2. Handlebar troll (those little rubber/plastic figurines w/wild hair)
3. Something on helmet (sticking up/out the back like a tassle) -
